1972 Nova 2005 Corvette

Brother in law has the following
Car: 1972 6cyl powerglide Nova 108" wheel base?
Parts Car: 2005 Corvette 6spd complete chassis and drivetrain 105" wb?

What is the best way to go about putting the two together?
I believe the best is to go std trans / motor combo w/ some variation of 9"

He wants to know if he can "stretch" the Chassis of the vette to work and put under the nova.

If he is stubborn on the IRS rear I believe full custom chassis will be in order.

Could someone please offer some guidance or suggestions on this project.

Take some time and do some searches and ask questions in the specific cateories.

I know that their are some guys transplanting the complete drivetrain under camaros so I don't see why it couldn't be done on its cousin the nova.

Extending the driveline-(not sure the correct term) can be done.

You will need a jig if you plan on doing the complete suspension, but it is very do-able if you have the tools and skills.

One thing about it, you can always use the engine and back it up with T56 and go with an aftermarket subframe and rear. There are several vendors that could get you hooked up with the suspension you guys need.

Hi Scotty,

You can splice into the standard C5 corvette frame and extend it to fit into the wheel openings of the Nova. You will need to recess it into the floor of the Nova somehow - so the middle profile of the stock vette frame might cause you problems. You can also splice into a custom mid frame and add the vette front and rear frame stubs onto that if you wanted. In the chassis manual of the C5 corvette it explains the GM approved procedure to replace a damaged frame section. Anything is possible.
