I don't have The Speed Channel so watching online right now. It should be very interesting with JP's II Much Nova tonite, and then Empty Nest tomorrow night.

It is lot # 409.1 I assume it will be later in the show because on fridays page they only go to lot# 420 and then there is a lot# 3000 after that. I hope it does well. Good luck JP.

Tony, Frank from Prodigy said 7-7:30 PST for both II Much tonite and and Empty Nest Saturday nite. Here's the thread that John Parsons started with pics of the changes he had made.

The nicer Camaros and Nova II's are still bringing good money. Nice to see. Amazing to think any of us could have picked up Too Much for just over 100k a couple weeks ago. Congrats on the sale! Good to see some guys appreciate just how much time, thought and money went into it.

I am glad the Nova did so well. Way better than the mustang they were working so hard to pump up. "over 200,000 to build" as they said. I don't remember the final price but think it was about 135k sold.

John's car was so much more interesting than another Shelby E clone.

Congrats to John and the Prodigy Team.
I honestly didn't think it was going to go much over $100k but to get another 75k that's awesome. A car that was garage built without a huge shop, it's great to see, can't wait to see what he builds next!!!!

Yes sir! The last one we sold at Barrett's 2006 it took right at 4 wks for them to get it to us. They collect the 10% from the buyer on top of the sales prices, and take 10% from the sellers cut as well.

8% from the buyer.. 10 from the seller.

So a car sells for $100,000

The seller gets $92,000
The Buyer Pays $110,000
And BJ makes a tide $18,000 profit

Plus the fees all that little stuff.

See.. I like how you think.

Since John made about $50k more than he would have been happy with then it's pretty much a free C6 Z06

Buyers pay right away, auction makes a little more $ on 4 weeks of float. They want to make sure the buyer's funds clear, but IMO if I am selling at their auction, the buyer's funds shouldn't be my problem. That is a risk that the auction company assumes in return for their fee revenue.

Of course day of sale seller pay is customary in the wholesale auto auction business where I work.

Hey guys! Unreal week!!!

I just got back today, and it's been real hard to read the posts on my iPhone, let alone post. Cell coverage in Las Vegas sucks.

Anyway, many many many thanks for the support and well-wishes. As Steve said, I'm not sure how to behave right now. The car was well received and the bidders looking at it built steadily during the day on Friday. I spent several hours taking several bidders through the design and intended function of the car.

And as I've said elsewhere:

[the B-J auction price point of] II Much has to be considered an outlier, one of those rare events that defy explanation, and an event that shouldn't be used to make any future decisions or predictions. Several people with the resources to buy it really liked the car and they duked it out at the auction. I don't think there's any more to it than that.

Thanks again guys!!!!!

Well put... I was there Friday and you are right. Prices were low to decent all day Friday, then evening came, and prices got stupid- no rime or reason. I saw a very dated 69 prostreet Camaro painted purple with a funky white interior fetch 80K! and on it goes. Like I've heard elsewhere...it takes two people who want the same car! contrats John:thumbsup:

so does that mean that everyone with a decent protouring 69 Camaro can break 100k? Man I wish it were true...but ...back to reality

I was showing the pics of your cars fabrication today to a friend. You literally built pretty much everything you could yourself instead of just buying a bunch of parts off the shelf. The fact that it worked great when you were done, and the level of fabrication and assembly was so high, that's why the car brought what it did. I'm just an assembler in comparison, which is fine. I know my limits and stay within them. You did a fantastic job on that build, can't wait for the next one. And I was very happy for you watching the auction.

So happy for you John!!

Great post!

I'm glad to see all of us "discussing" these auction sales... some folks get it - and some just don't... which is neither here nor there. BUT I'm happy to see that you understand how lucky you got (although I think people make their own luck)....

But what separates a home run sale from a ho hum sale?? 2 or more people that WANT WHAT YOU HAVE.... and are willing, and able, to pay for it. If you don't have what people want - you have a ho hummer... END OF STORY.

Mecum pays the day of sale.

I have always been paid day of sale by them too, but the last two times they have wanted to wait until the buyer paid for it first. I usually just have to get Dana to ok it. You think they might trust me a little more seeing that my dad and his wife work for them. :_paranoid

You build an outstanding car. Thus the reason you had such a great showing.

I can't wait to see your next project.

You car has and will always be inspirational to all of us.
