Needing a new trunk lid, and was going to wait until I found a good original, but having no luck. I have heard some horrible stories about reproduction not fitting. Looking for brands that fit really well

Did you change the quarters?
For what it's worth, after changing both my quarters on my Camaro, the original deck lid doesn't fit like it did with OEM quarters. I believe the problem mainly lies in the stamping of the rear quarters at the trunk gutter area. At least that's my experience. I tried two original deck lids and both fit the same.

I've had pretty good luck but I have had to tweek them all a bit. On two of them, the curvature wasn't quite right so I needed to remove some of the curvature. For this, I placed the lid onto two 4"x4" timbers and used the old foot press (gently applied my weight to it) until I felt it give a little. To fine tune it I after I mounted it, I used a 2x4 a little longer the the trunk is deep and then pulled down on the lid to push add back to the curvature.
On another, that I had replaced the rear window filler piece, I needed to lift the right side of the trunk about 1/4" (not the trunk lid) so I used a bottle jack on a 4x4 timber and gently pushed it up and let it down until the elevation was correct. I've also had to add steel welding wire along the top edge of the lid and grind a clean even gap. I'm not a professional and I didn't think that any of the adjustments I made were too time consuming nor too difficult.
Good luck,
