Well I was introduced to a guy that said he would do all my exhaust fab work and build a set of headers for my 68 camaro for no charge. I am doing a little trade out work.
This guy does some amazing work. My question is: What type of mufflers should I go with? what size? I had 2.5" on before. I am going to keep the mufflers kinda tucked under the rear where they aren't too visible. I am up for any input, or creative ideas. This is not my area of expertise!
As far as Headers go, I am not sure either: Would I be better off to buy a set or have this guy build a set?
I appreciate any help.
Scott, I was kinda unsure which section to but this thread in, so feel free to move if you need to.
Thanks, Andrew

Few questions.
What motor is in the car? ci, compression, N/A or FI
What trans, and TC stall if applicable
What rear end gears and tire height
What are you going to use the car for?
Do you want a stealthy sleeper or something that will make a nextel cup car sound tame?

What motor is in the car? 5.7L, 350 Fuel Injected, Hot cam kit, eventually will swap TBI Inj, for Holley Stealth, and a few mild engine mods, for now expected HP is probably 315-325HP, I would like to achieve 400HP in the near future.
What trans: TH400 - might be swapping to an overdrive trans
What rear end gears and tire height: 17" rear wheels, don't know tire size off hand, 10 bolt 3:23 rearend, car will be dropped 2.5"s
What are you going to use the car for? This car is going to be driven on the streets, car shows, occasionly ran on the track.
Do you want a stealthy sleeper or something that will make a nextel cup car sound tame? I want the car to sound aggressive, but I want to be able to talk to the person next to me in the car at the same time.
Thanks, Andrew

4 in 1 headers using a 1 5/8" primary and 3" collector, around 29" total primary length. 2.5" duals, preferably with an x-pipe to balance the two. As for mufflers you need to listen to a few and see what you like. But personally I think the hooker aerochamber would be a great setup. Pretty tame at idle but has a nice growl when you stand on it.
Look at this guys work and see how it compares to whats available. You don't "NEED" anything super custom and likely won't get a major performance gain from it, but there is a certain appeal to an awesome set of custom fab headers.

I put these on my camaro in the stainless housings:

I am VERY happy with them.
I had the exhaust guy build a trick X pipe. I also ordered the killer ball clamp collector (non-gasket re-usable collector), and had him put several ball clamp joints in the system for servicing.
