I wanna know how all you guy's protect wheels while building cars???? I see multi car's on here that have there wheels on there car while doing shet metal and body work. So I wanna know the trick to how you do not mess them up in any shape our form. Tips would be great!!!!!! I know I saw Leu using blue tape on the wheel lips. Thanks in advance guys. Brandon

Cover 'em with some cardboard == cut circles --- tape 'em up!!

I'd grab a set of crap steelies and put the nice wheels on only when needed for mock up...

I've even seen guys make rollers out of plywood and bolt them on... it's not what I'd do - but have seen it done!

Yup, junk yard steel wheels and tires for me. There were three diff wheels on the car for years. JR

If you look closely at wheels that are actually on a car during processes like you mention, you'll find they're actually thrashed when examined up close but the good news is that aluminum can be re-sanded and polished free of most imperfections. If you don't like polishing, steel wheels in the shop with the shiny wheels bagged and sealed up is the way to go.
