I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I thought I would run it by you guys to make sure. Are the 67 Camaro and Firebird subframes identical?

I just went and checked out a stock subframe from a 67 Camaro that's had all the components changed out (stock type) and been converted to disc brakes. It's a pretty good price and just about zero miles. I think I'm going to pick it up for my 67 Firebird in the morning. What do you guys think, no problem, right?

Thanks

I think the steering linkage may be different on the Firebird to clear the balancer on the pontiac engine. Take a good look at your Firebird one and then compare it to the Camaro one.

Thanks for the info. I picked it up this morning. The steering is slightly higher on the Camaro subframe. I'm wondering if I can just swap out the center link?

Don't mean to threadjack, but what's a stock first gen sub worth these days?

Well, to me it was worth $700, the guy was asking $1000. It's been converted to disc brakes and all the bushings have been replaced. It's in much better shape than mine was.

My subframe needed some help on the mounting holes (rust :( ) and has drum brakes. I was planning on keeping the stock subframe and upgrading brakes/suspension/etc. I would have spent at least that much on brakes alone. It does look like I have to swap out the steering linkage though, which sucks because that was brand new as well.
