So I tore out all my interior on my car and it's pretty bad. Lots of rust one nest of mice behind the headliner and pretty much nothing salvageable. It's going to need a new floor pan and trunk pan and quarters so after its all said and done ill pretty much have bought the car twice. I really wish i would have done my research and looked a little more into the car because now i still owe on it and with the interior ripped out probably could not sell it for what i owe...

Sorry to hear that man. I'd give you a hug, but I'm all the way up here in Sacramento. Stop by on your way to Montana for a loving embrace?
On a more serious note; that does suck. There's nothing worse than finding major issues you had no clue about.

Welcome to the club!!! These builds will separate you from your $ fast, piss off your wife, give you gray hair and stomach ulcers!
Before you jump of a bridge or suck start a 9mm...know that you are not alone!
I paid way too much for a project car that was “paint ready” and have dumped an additional $125k into the car and its still in pieces.
Everyday I think about what I could have bought for $140k (3 brand new Camaros)
Good luck!

I've made that same mistake--bought one off ebay that looked great from a solid dealer with great feedback. Sold it one year later for a 6k loss. Same type of issues as yours. Don't give up though. One thing this hobby has taught me is patience, especially when I make the mistake. Good will come from it eventually. You now have yourself a "Project" car that will take longer than you thought if you plan on keeping it. Most of us have them, or have had them---shoot--even when they are done, they are still a project--never done I suppose. Keep moving forward--even if it is very slowly.

I'll be in this boat when I finally strip my car for paint. For now I enjoy beating on it at the race track for my grins

I think all of us who've been doing cars for a while have been in the same boat. It sucks, but the good thing is that once you finish going through it you'll know exactly what you've got, no more surprises.

That sucks man. Sorry to hear that.
I am going to expect that when I start my project and get things going. Hopefully things will not be that bad.
The bright side to all of that is, you a brand new interior!!! GOOD LUCK!

yeah it really sucks maybe I'll go trade it in for cash for clunkers  but anyway the one thing that still looks good is the back seat i just can't figure out how to get it out and i dint want to screw it up trying
On a more uplifting note, I see you list Bozeman as where you're at now (used to be San Diego, right?) How are you liking the big sky country?

Don't look at it from the bad $$$ perspective or it will drive ya nutz!
Enjoy the long Bozeman winter by replacing floor pans and working on your interior. Then if you got the interior back in it enjoy it until the next winter comes up and then do another section of the car.
/shrug you can gut her out and tear everything down but since your paying on it I do not suggest that. This way if something comes up its not a full blown rebuild to get it back together. Plus you get to enjoy the car during the times you want to, and get to spend time with it duringthe winter months also.

yeah i agree but whats done is done i guess it will just give me more motivation to redo the trunk pan and floor
Hang in there. I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you when I start taking the interior out of my '72 Chevelle. I already know I need new quarters both sides, various other pieces of sheet metal, all new chrome (bumpers, grill, interior pieces, etc) and a bunch of other things.
If it wasn't for my buddy Jody (camcojb) telling me to get the things that "have to be done" worked on and get out and drive it (and take it home, but that's another story :_paranoid ), I would be a wreck :willy:
Wait, I am a wreck :willy: But hang in there anyway
