I have been on this site for a couple of years now talking and learning from many of you. This site has defiantly helped it's vendors as I have dealt with many from this site. (with great results) The car I have been building is a 69 Camaro with a ProCharged intercooled LS 418 should put between 650 to 700 to the rear. The tranny is a new Rockland T56 6 speed, the rear is a Moser 12 bolt with a G bar suspension, front is a AME subframe and the brakes are 14" Wilwoods. Colors will be black with white Yenko stripes with all of the emblems and the wheels are Fiskes just like on the Mule.

WOW! What a build! i will be watching this one.

Couple of questions for you:
Did you need to modify anything on the ame frame or move the radiator to use the pro-charger?
Are you using the stock pro-charger bracket?
Where did you get the air inlet that is on the pro-charger?
How much clearance do you have to the pro-charger to the radiator?
Is that a d1 or f1?

its the same kit as mine. Its the C6 corvette procharger kit. Mine is a D1SC. I think it will fit without moving the radiator forward.

It's a f-1 procharger using the corvette brackets. The inlet hat was the toughest part to find, I will have to look up the receipt and give you guys the part #. Because it being the F-1 I had to modify the core support to get enough room to have adequate cooling (not wanting to take any chances on cooling). Also when running RS headlights it's a challenge to install a intercooler and piping. I will be making a cover like DSE sells to go over the top of the radiator and attatch to the fenders, so it doesn't look so busy up front. No modifications to the AME sub and there is a good 1/4 to a 1/2" from hat to fan. The paint and emblems will be Yenko. Some of the metal work is roughed in it will be perfected when it comes back apart.

BritishGreen68

looks like its going to be pretty awesome when its done.. you going to do the black and white houndstooth interior with sYc on the headrest?

69x22
08-13-2009, 09:00 PM
I thought about that, but I ended up going with the Recaros, and a extra hide of leather to match the back seat with.
In the beginning it was going to be a ProCharged LS7, that would of went with the Yenko theme quite a bit better. You know how things change along the way though.
There is not going to be alot of bling bling under the hood, more of a satin black and titanium look, kinda like the style of Stuart Adams blue 69. I am burned out on polishing things.

Thanks for all of the compliments guys.
The core support is in the same spot, I cut it in half then boxed in the sides to move the radiator out about 3/4" to 1". The radiator came from Frank at Prodigy, I had to move the top hose inlet up and in so the hose would clear the inlet hat, I also had to build a little box and lower the filler neck so it would clear the hood and soon to be filler panel. I will get you the inlet hat part # and a phone# to the place I bought it from. I spent $50 sending inlet hats that wouldn't work back. Also looked into the one that Jay Doerfler is using on his build but I found out he was using the smaller blower. I could have moved the motor back a little further but it still would have still been tight.

I lied, the radiator is moved 2 3/8" out from the stock location.

The inlet hat came from east coast supercharging 606-752-0321. It is for their Paxton SCT600 2007 to 2008 GM truck kit. You can see a picture of it installed on a truck. The picture shows it to be aluminum, I was told that they only make it in plastic but is is a good quality piece.

After I was assured from many people on this site that they were comfortable, I went thru Motorsports Seats and ordered a pair. They carry many brands of seats and usually give you a little bit of a discount if you tell them you are a member of Lateral G. I don't think they offer it in anything but black, but I think you can get them without the leather and have them done the way you want. Thanks, for the compliment.

After waiting a few months for the painter to finish up his last project, he finally got on my 69. So far it has been stripped, all of the body panels have been lined up (some of the gaps had to have welding rod added) and now the blocking begins. I guess the good thing is that the painter only works on one at a time.
I have been wanting to start gathering up the new interior pieces but I decided to hold off until I absolutly need them, that way if something doesn't fit they can't say it went bad by sitting in a spare bedroom for 6 months.

Well after staring at Rob Johnsons old car enough, I sent all of the Yenko emblems back and bought all Z28 stuff. The car will now be a black with white stripes RS Z28 with all of the factory emblems and trim. I know there are a couple of them already done like this. But it's what I like!

They are both painted. I noticed that some of the DSE cars had painted radiators and intercoolers so I called them and they said they didn't have any issues with any of them that were painted. Good taste in colors!

After searching on the forums for a nice clean way to run the emergency cables on a F-body, this is what I came up with. I bent a piece of 19 gauge steel on a brake then used nutserts to attach it to the side of the subframe and floor board, it should be plenty rigid for what it needs to do and it will be painted black also. I am sure there are better ways to do this.

Been working on the fuel system and also installing sound deadner. Had to order more Dynamat to finish up. For anyone doing a Camaro, Firebird, or Nova, to do the roof, inside of doors, backside of firewall and cowl, inside of kick panels, tubs, deck panel, complete floor and the underside of the speaker box, it is taking me app. 92 square feet of Dynamat.

Thanks, it's a Ricks tank with 2 Walboros in it, the 2nd one will come in off of boost via a hobbs switch. The beauty of it is if you have problems with one pump a override switch will turn the second one on to get you home.

Yeah when I first heard he didn't have a paint booth I was scratching my head also. He has a long narrow shop that he paints in what he does is he opens one set of door about 3 feet then he has a couple of box fans that he installs in the opening he then installs filters on the other door that is opened about 3 feet. It takes him a whole day to convert his shop to a paint booth. The paint on this car is flawless so it must work pretty good. Thanks for the compliments guys.

Thanks man! The new tune made 602 at the rear wheels, it's about a 100HP or better off. I think the inlet to the Pro Charger is the restriction. I have a few things in mind, but I've been busy working out the other little bugs, it is wicked fast with the 600HP and got 20mpg on my 700 mile round trip.

Defiantly want to install some clear bra on it!!

... but wished I would have went with a DSE rear suspension, or just DSE front and rear.

Why do you say that (about the rear)? What do you not like about the G-bar rear? Asking bc I plan on going with a built rear and 4-link after Xmas.

A few of members with some decent horsepower and allot of racing are getting some cracks in the rear frame rails from the upper control arms pulling on the cradle. See Vegas 69 thread. When I got back from this trip I found them on mine. If you do run this set up you need to either replace the frame rails or seriously beef them up. Or just go with DSE.

Thanks. I will have to work on the open track video. I do plan on running it down the quarter mile soon with some good tires on the back.

There are 4 other cars that I know of that have had this issue. Because of that I've been keeping a close eye on it, sure enough hair line cracks. Other than that problem it handles and rides nice.

Tony,
I enjoyed talking with you at the local Friday night car show. The car looks better in person then the pics - top notch all the way around.

It is very rare that I see one done right in my opinion - fit and finish, top quality parts, attention to detail, etc.

I hope mine comes out close to that nice. Thanks for sharing some of the details about the build. Now I have to get back on mine...

The HP #s are down, I think the inlet to the blower is restrictive. Will know soon.

Simply badass! Black, stock looking (body anyway) 69 z.....cant go wrong there!

I might have missed it, but what kind of power did you end up with at the wheels?

Edit, just saw the video. Got goosebumps hearing that wind up. Awesome!

I thought I would share this with you forced induction guys.
When I was in the building stage of this car I took a short cut and went with a cheap ebay intercooler. While trouble shooting on why the car was down on power I discovered there was a 15psi DP across the intercooler due to the air flowing across a long narrow path of core creating the high DP. Bell designed me a intercooler that would allow the air to flow across a wide short core, which lowered the DP across the intercooler and allowed the car to put 835 HP to the tires a 125HP gain by swapping intercoolers. The ebay intercooler was a nice piece for the money it just wasn't a good design for what I had in mind. I hope this makes sense and keeps someone from making the same mistake I made. :)

In order to keep oil mist from entering the combustion chamber and causing detonation I decided to install a new evac system. I went with 2 of the new re-designed Moroso breather tanks. The tanks now have an internal baffle with a stainless mesh to help separate the oil. I ran a -12 line from each valve cover to a individual tank. I hope the pictures are not to dark.

Love your car!!

Interesting info on the intercooler. I'm running the same type of intercooler that you were it looks like. Amazing you picked up 125 hp from swapping.

Mine has a Vortech T-trim with an LS2 bottom end, LS3 heads. Has a mild cam in it but managed to put down 655 rwhp, 550 rwtq. I wonder if the intercooler is holding it back any... Not that it needs much more especially with a stock bottom end... :drive:

Awesome car and thanks for sharing the info!!

I just freshened up the engine a little bit. I Moved the coil packs down by the starter and oil filter. The Stainless Works headers are made out of a lower grade stainless that started rusting out so I sent them off and had them coated. Also had some re-anodizing and hydradipping done here and there.

Very clean. I like it.

What color or type of coating was done on the headers?

Is that Cartek's Flip Kit I see in there too? I put that system on a Stage 2 Procharged C5Z06. It made a world of difference even with it just being a "stock" 8psi system. Pricey setup but fantastic design.

Jet Hot did the coating. I told them I wanted the color to look like high quality stainless headers after the have been ran a little bit. I think it was shade #47 or 48.
The flip drive kit was the only way to go using the C6 engine brackets. Im making 16 psi boost without any belt issues.

You did a great job, engine sure looks good
Thanks
