If any body is searching for a true push button start, I have found the solution. No Keys or separate switch needed. This system works just like the factory. I have been working with Sven for about a year waiting patently for the devolpement of his system. Not knowing what I'm doing when it comes electric, Sven walked me thru every step of instalation. Customer service is out standing and the product is very proffesional looking. Go to his websight and watch the video. I have checked out most of the compeditors products and have found this has the best options and looks great. there are 2 differant buttons to choose from. plus there are other options including locks, window, doors, alarm.

Nice unit, I looked ino that also, but as I recall you still need another source for a on off swith to carry electric to the switch. The stardrive has RIF built into the Key fob which works Just like the Honda's and Nissen, new corvette ECT.

You're right -- glad I hadn't installed mine yet - I'd far prefer the system you show here!
wow that seems really nice, and the answer to everyones wishes!

Badass!!!!!!
I ended up getting a Honda S2000 start button to put in my 78 Camaro's
Covans dash, fairly inexpensive setup. But this is pretty cool IMO.

Awesome system we are using one for our SEMA/CES vehicle! I had been talking to Sven as well and he always kept you up to date about what was taking place, and I would have to say by far this is what everyone was looking for in a complete system with a very affordable price point!

that really is awesome. Is there a way to make that work if you were to use ISIS? might be a dumb question but still kinda confused about the ISIS stuff but is seems so cool.

NICE PRODUCT! I LIKE THE CHIOCE OF IGNITION BUTTONS.
IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN PRODUCTS LIKE THIS,
www.digitalgaurddawg.com HAS HAD THESE PUSH BUTTON IGNITIONS OUT FOR A WHILE NOW. THEY ALSO USE A RFID KEY FOB AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE $50 BUCKS CHEAPER!
BOTH PRODUCTS LOOK GREAT! HOPE THIS HELPED. :lateral:

Why would you need both? The ISIS does both for less money.

I have never seen a straight answer as to whether the ISIS system does the RFID portion of the equation. Seems to me it would still require you to manually hit a button on the remote rather than just leaving it in your pocket.

Intouch is coming and you can carry it with you. EVERYTHING can be done from that unit. You dont need one button on your dash.

I looked into digital dog but there was no options to unlock the doors. They did tell me they were working on it soon.
Had I not allready wired my car I would have gone with ISIS. I looked into this system last year at SEMA, but I'm so tired of buying and selling parts before I get the car done. I had to try and stick to the plan.

THATS TRUE THERE IS NO OPTION TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. ALTHOUGH DIGITAL GAURD DOG IS WORKING ON IT, STAR DRIVE HAS THE OPTION TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AND THEY ALL PROVIDE AN ENGINE KILL, I DONT THINK ANY OF THESE PRODUCTS SUPPLY AN SECURITY WITH A SIREN AND SHOCK SENSORS. LEAVING YOU TO INSTALL AN ALARM (WITCH COMES WITH KEYLESS ENTRY)
I JUST HAD THE TOP OF THE LINE CLIFFORD ALARM INSTALLED (WITH KEYLESS ENTRY AND REMOTE START) IF I USE ANY OF THESE RFID PUSH BUTTON IGNITIONS I WONT BE ABLE TO REMOTE START MY CAR OUTSIDE OF THE KEYFOB RANGE!:(
I LOVE THIS OPTION BUT I DONT THINK IT WILL WORK FOR ME.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

WAY COOL!
The car i recently bought came with a flaming river column and NO ignition switch...so I have been thinking about a push start...but kept hitting dead ends on some of the more basic issues.
THIS IS THE TICKET!
Will keep this link as a favorite - not near ready for this mod yet...but will be coming along.
WAY COOL!
Did I say that already???

I second everything you said about Sven and the Stardrive system. Sven is a class act and will not steer you in the wrong direction. We have been talking to each other over the past year or so and though I have not yet installed my unit, I have no doubt that it will work as stated.

You can use the LITE version (No RFID passive alarm) if you have an existing alarm, It dose get complicated with remote start.
As an installer I like things simple light flash and door locks I'm not a big fan of the siren or shock sensor.

On the stardrive system will the button fit in the stock ignition key hole or do you have to drill a bigger hole. The website says the button is 15/16 and I measured the stock hole and it seems pretty close to that.

yes, mine is installed and working great. I got pictures some where. I'll get them up. But reall the only think you see is the push button and it's the same as the NIssen or corvette button.

is the installation a pretty straightforward deal? Will it work with an aftermarket wiring system(american autowire-22 circuit system)?
bigtyme1
04-09-2010, 03:04 AM
yes, I have the american auto wire in my car. Make sure you ask for the service switch to go with it. it's a must to be able to turn off the system while the car is in storage for any lenght of time.

Would the service switch come from the wiring company or the Stardrive system? Confused on that.

I also recommend Sven and Star Drive. i put one in my car last summer and it works great.
GM ECM user take note:
You will need to make some leads off your bat, ign, start, acc wires for a portable key tumbler. You need this so a computer can pull your ECM Programming in key on, motor off. Stardrive won't trip ECM in ACC.
I highly recommend that you build pigtails off the bat, ign, acc, start wires that run from your harness to the stardrive box. Terminate these leads with the 30amp capable metri pack double connectors. (380s?) You will then have bat, start, ign, acc wires from the harness that each split into a Y with metripak connectors on each end. When it is plugged into the star drive box, the other end of the Y has the male ends of the metri pak connector w/ plugs to protect against shorts. Vice versa when the Ys are plugged into a key tumbler.

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but does the Star Drive work with carburetors. If so, is there anything special that has to be done to make it work?

It would make no difference - it's just a keyless start button rather than using a key.

Does anyone know what size the mounting hole needs to be? This is from their website, but not sure if this refers to the size of the mounting hole, or the outside diameter of the button itself.
How big is the button, and the housing?
Button 15/16 , Housing 1 3/4
I emailed them, but no response yet...
