View Full Version : Douche Bag Thieves

Some douche bag tried to steal my Mustang last night!

I saw him from my bedroom window dicking around my driver side door so I snuck up on him and we started brawling out in the middle of the street. I got him into a submission hold and my neighbor called the cops.

Why can't people just leave other peoples stuff alone!:(

Now my door lock is all jacked up although I never use it anyways but the door skin around it is all scratched from him using a screwdriver trying to pry the lock off the door.

John

P.S. I guess all those UFC fights I've been watching came in handy!

MFer came at me with the screwdriver he was using to try and pry the door lock but when he went at me I tied up his arm and put an elbow into his throat and put him on the ground. He dropped the screwdriver as soon as I had him on the ground and my forearm pressuring his adams apple.

I was gonna do the "ground and pound" but, luckily cooler heads prevailed and I thought about this A-hole suing me for excessive force or whatever so I just kept him there till the cops arrived.

YEP.. we had a dirt bag pull a gun here at work when confronted by a sales manager in the middle of the DAY- we still got him- but it could have been a different story- "man dies over confrontation of stolen property- valued at $20!!!"

no piece of metal is worth me touching a thief who might be might be HIV- or have a gun - or knife- that being said- I probably would have had adrenalin flowing and done the same thing- I HATE THIEVES!!!:D

In MA, if he gets so much as a hangnail while breaking in or or hurt feelings while you trying to verbally stop him, you'll get sued and probably lose. I envy those of you that live in states where citizens are neutered. The criminals have more rights than law-abiding folks.

Had it been me, It would take every molecule (and then some) in my body to restrain myself.

Great job John!

That screwdriver can be considered a deadly weapon. The thief should count his blessings he still has a pulse. I'm glad you didn't get hurt or any legal trouble. I think you handled it good, but there was a serious risk to your life by making physical contact.

Like Frank said coming at you with a screwdriver calls for a round or two from the 45. Florida is pretty lenient on homeowners protecting themselves and property. I once had officer tell me it is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. I will live on the motto.
Glad you made out alright. The car can be fixed.

Holy crap John!
Im not sure myself If thats was the right move. But in the heat of things sometimes thinking comes 2nd.
I had a F350 with about 1500 miles on it stolen out of my driveway about 6yrs ago in our lovely suburbs and seen it going down the street as I was coming home about midnight. I followed the guy to a gas station (while calling 911) and confronted him almost the same time the cops showed up. It doesnt make a difference anymore where you live. If your close to an on ramp to the highway there gone.
The future problem was that on the police report my full name, info, etc where known to him. Nothing became of this after he served his time but it definitely puts you in a cautious situation everyday.

Good to here it worked to your advantage!

glad to hear it went ok and you got him

After having a knife pulled on me a few years ago by some trench coat punk it has opened my eyes. Glad your safe.

My brother got his new Denali broken into night before last. All they took were his CD's, wheel lock, day planner, and his business cards-like a box of them! He had his checkbook and garage door opener and a few other things of value in there that they left. He has some gangsta looking wheels 24" Dub, so they will probably be back.

Dude, great story. I must admit, it's nice to hear some street justice is done every now and again. If you've never been ripped off before (car, house) it's hard not to want to see someone pay for it, on the spot. The fact that you are in So Cal and still addressed this guy is impressive. It seems like thieves get away with everything down here and never have to pay, even when they are caught. Hats off to you for having the courage, and if we ever do business, I'll make sure you get paid same day since I know your personality now--LOL.

Good story, screw that guy and his rights, once he steps over the line into your yard he is fair game. You should have put your foot in his mouth who cares if you hurt him. In the old west desert were we live we get to pack so people like this don’t really do this kind of thing. Everyone around here carries guns to take care of people like this. You don’t hear about carjacking and that kind of thing around here and when you do they usually end up dead. Dead men cant sue

novanutcase
07-23-2009, 05:51 PM
Oh, he got hurt alright! When he lunged at me with the screwdriver I wrapped his arm with mine and locked his wrist in my armpit. I hit him HARD with my elbow to his throat! I guess that's why he went down so quick!

Once he was on the ground I had a knee in his chest and my forearm on his neck!

He squirmed a little but as soon as I started applying forearm pressure to his throat he knew he was screwed so he dropped the screwdriver and relented!

My neighborhood is full of dog owners so people are constantly walking their dogs at all hours. Luckily my neighbor was walking his dog when this all went down so he just pulled out his cell phone and called 911.

I thought about it afterwards and, you're probably right, I should have just called the cops but I tried that before on another attempt of another car I had and he left before they arrived. I guess I let my emotions get the best of me but I was so pissed the last time this happened and I wasn't going to let him get away this time!

When they walked up the guy was screaming bloody murder about how I had used excessive force on him, blah blah blah. They just told him to shut up, cuffed him and threw him in the back of the patrol car. They did tell me next time I should call them and not confront the guy but one of the officers took me aside and asked me how I took him down. He gave me a thumbs up and a pat on the back!!

You should have seen the look on my other neighbors faces!

I got a call from the officer that took me aside. Apparently this guy has been terrorizing the neighborhood with a rash of burgularies and whatever other mayhem he's been causing so he said he wanted to just let me know along with the fact that the DA has decided to charge him with assault with a deadly weapon but only if I commit to testifying against him.

Trust me when I say "Yes" couldn't have come out of my mouth faster! I'm so sick of these thieves terrorizing our neighborhoods. I'm sufficiently armed so if he decides to retaliate when he gets out he's going to have an a$$ full of lead!

Honestly, it all happened so fast it was like a blur. It's not like I planned this all out as I was approaching the guy. I just reacted. One minute I'm all pissed off slithering around the front of the car and the next the guys on the ground gurgling. I guess I was so pissed I just went into automatic mode. It just kind of happened.
If I was smart I would have brought a tire iron with me but, again, I was all wound up and wasn't thinking. I just thank god that this idiot didn't have a gun. A knife I can handle for the most part but getting around a gun is near impossible and much more lethal.

This guy stops a crackhead with a screwdriver using his bare hands and you guys try to brag about some gun you got?A topic about defending your property comes up, and you don't expect guns to be brought up? If this thief had been armed, or even just a better fighter, we'd sadly be talking about a completely different topic. Looking at this from a logical standpoint, going after the thief unarmed is a good way to get yourself killed. I'm sure logical and rational thought didn't enter into the situation though... like he says, he just reacted.

And to all the tough guys with the guns GIMME A BREAK just like John Stossel.:rofl:If we thought we were tough-guys, we wouldn't need the guns. We'd just kick their asses.

I commend the OP for his brass balls and fighting skills used to take this guy down, but in all honesty, I think it was a bad decision and he got lucky.

Top man John. Way to defend your property. Yeah calling the cops sounds nice, but once you confront someone at your house, they are not likely to come back. If he does, then you kill him. I don't care if the property is only worth $20 dollars, it's your property and if someone thinks he can take something that belongs to you, then he absolutely deserves some street justice. Thumbs up to you John.

I agree with you Derek. My confronting him was probably not the smartest thing to do.

Now that I've had a chance to think about it the situation could have gone very badly. I guess whatever logic I had in that heightened state was to at least confront the guy face to face so that he knew I wan't going to just lay down. I thought that he would just run away. I didn't expect him to lunge at me like that. Once the adrenalin took over it was all a blur!

Most perps understand the response time and how the legal system works(or doesn't work for the most part!). I had a retail store and thieves would do "smash and grabs" by breaking the storefront window and taking as much as they could within a few minutes. They knew that the cops couldn't get there that fast and it took at least that long for the alarm company to call me first and for me to authorize them to call the cops.

I guess, at the time, something snapped in me and I just said "NO MORE!"
