Yeah, ain't no kinda to it. That's very high for a Camaro. You know they mark them up because of it's new release and try to make like demand is higher than supply. Wait until this time next year. They'll be giving them away with rebates, incentives & all that.

I agree man. The rear kills the car as does the "mail slot" on the front end.
That price seems a little too much for that bad boy.:_paranoid

First one out of three ordered by fellow workers showed up yesterday. This one is a 2SS auto dark gray black stripe and he paid 1k over. I believe the other two paid sticker.

We should have a rule against dealers posting ads for cars. Do us a favor and mosey on back over to the Camaro5 forum and get ready for your mandatory brow-beating.

Not bad is a relative rating... I personally think it's why the auto industry is in such sad shape... I can't stand walking onto a dealers lot to even LOOK...

I get a kick out of people who get mad for dealer marking up a vehicle thats hard to get right now....people should be mad at the people who are paying over sticker for them, not the dealer who sells it. We had a guy walk in to our dealership for a Camaro that was Sold for $3k over sticker and offer Us $10k over sticker, we didnt do it, but thats the kind of people who raise the prices of these vehicles...remember this is a captilist society and the dealer will charge what the market will bare. Our dealer ship has sold 3 so for $3k over sticker including a V6 model.

No -- I think an HONEST dealer would say -- "Gee - while I'd love to charge you more than the factory sticker... I'm making a decent markup at that price... So if you'd agree to pay MSRP... We've got a deal and we're both happy".
A dishonest ripoff charges whatever the market will bare... but won't make a good customer out of the deal - and pisses 50 people off - for every "deal" he makes...
Good luck with those car sales... and don't forget the 50 pissed off people - also buy TRUCKS to haul their other cars around... you know - the ones you can't give away right now? Remember those? Oh yeah - and when the wife needs a new kid hauler - well - "Daddy" would be the same guy you tried to hose on the Camaro... and like an elephant... he never forgets.
:captain:
Now -- explain to me what a great deal you just made.
The reason I say the above - is because it's totally true. How 'bout a new POLL?? LOL
My buddy tried to buy a new ZO6 from a dealer (the actual owner) of the local Chevy dealer - who is also a member of our tri-five club. When he went down - after the dealer said "come on down = I'll take care of you!" - the dealer ONLY wanted 10K markup over sticker - and tells my buddy - that's a "deal" because he could maybe get 20K over...
My buddy says - Gee thanks! And leaves. Goes to another local dealer - who sells him a ZO6 for sticker... He then bought his LS2 motor and other parts from this dealer - and then bought another new ZO6 from him (at sticker).
So... who made the most "profit". The Dealer that makes a little extra "one time"? Or the dealer that has since sold TWO cars - and engine - and "WE" all tell everyone we know about...

Yea I'm not mad at the person offering more than sticker or accepting the 3k over sticker. I simply laugh at his stupidity and lack of research to see you CAN find these for sticker and in some cases LESS. If someone wants to waste money by all means have a ball.
I know every time a car is offered at more than sticker and no budging by the sales manager just puts them on the list of places I'll NEVER get a car from. I went to a Chevy dealer in Houston to ask about ordering a new camaro when they first released the orders. He said sure I could, they're charging 5k over sticker on the pre-ordered cars. "They'll be selling for much more than that believe me." Needless to say, I just laughed and walked back to my car.
I've turned down a few already for sticker.

It will pass soon enough..... I also agree it's about the big picture and most don't get that. You get one shot at treating somebody right. If you had the choice of 100 happy customers that will earn you a nice living for years to come or 10 guys willing to pay 3k over sticker what would be your choice? Of course the sales department tries to milk every sucker for every penny they can but the GM of the dealership should know better.
I'm with you there guys. The second sticker is the quickest way to get me off the lot. There are dealers up north here that don't put seconds on anything. A few that only do it on specialty cars (Z06, STi, SS Camaro). But they are also the first to drop that without flinching if the customer is serious. It goes a long way towards keeping the tire kickers from wasting anyones time. And if someone walks in and drops 20k over on a new Z06, so be it. They should know better.
There is one dealer up here that I trust and will do all of my GM business with as long as I am in the area. Roy Robinson Chev Subaru. They are all good guys. Good owner too.

Not to hijack but this comment is so over used and ignorant. GM is the largest VEHICLE manufacturer in the world. Someone is buying their stuff. Toyota might sell more cars, (it is always close) but add in trucks and it doesn't even compare.

what the hell does building more volume have to do with it or selling more overall cars and trucks this comment was about the camaro not their other models!!!!

reverse lights look like a serious after thought. like side markers on a 68.
I already told the local dealer that when the markup turns to a discount to call me.

just to let u guys know, there is hardly any "mark-up" from invoice to MSRP on the New Camaro, that is really why dealers are asking so much for them. When GM told the dealers the Camaro was coming out they told them there was gonna be 3-4K mark-up from invoice on them, but when we started getting invoices the markup on a 2SS/RS is about 1K, alot of dealers were pissed, cause thats how we kepp the lights on, taxes paid and employees who are not salesmen or service techs paid. If you have a problem paying over sticker then wait or if u cant then find a dealer to sell it to you cheaper, the over sticker amount is for people who can't wait and dont care what they pay. It amazes me that people will pay $10K over sticker for a car that there are gonna be plenty of next year.
Tell u the truth, the way customers act I am gonna start doing the same thing to people who sell performance parts, I want everything below your cost with stuff thrown in for free cause "hey im the only customer in the world who will be purchasing from you" mentality:D
That said I want a set of Rushforth Rims LiveWires BlackPowercoated 18x8 front and 18x10.5 in the back for 35% below cost with free shipping, lugnuts and Tires from Michelins, 0% Apr financing for 12months with my payments of $50 a month (notice the math is not even close, just like people wanting a $50K Tahoe for 60months for $400 a month):D

YOU (nothing personal) - "the dealers/factory" - trained us in this tactic... and let's not forget who started the 0% interest rate offers... oh... and the discount from sticker... and let us not forget the "incentives". You act like this is somehow the customers fault.
The fact that the new GOVERNMENT MOTORS stuck it to you - is not our problem - we don't deal with the factory directly (maybe we should)... so you need to take that markup problem up with them. When I used to make a living - retired many years ago at 41, thank you (better lucky than smart! I was never smart) - I fought that battle all the time with my dealers. I was a rep in the patio industry... Brown Jordan - Grossifillex - Ducane Gas Grills - California Umbrella... profit margins were always critical to the success of the item and to the dealer. It was a dealers perogitive to NOT carry something they couldn't make any money on... and it was their 'problem' if they ordered the wrong mix of goods against the advice of their reps. I was fortunate to have some of the top lines - and had the clout to not let a dealer order bad stuff - but lots of reps sold them anything and felt "loaded is loyal". Not my style AT ALL. It was my job to make sure they knew what the correct mix was - the current / best colors - the best selling price points... and to bring outside info to them of what's working the best. If they didn't like my service - my margins - my advice - then I was hitting the door with an order... "get out, stay out... and don't come back!"
I personally think the entire model for selling cars is past broken. The door greeters that know little about the product... the 4 hours of "haggling" over $50... the trade in process (the customer wanting too much for his trade and trying to steal your car - and the dealer trying to steal the trade and wants full retail for his new car). There's too many dealers all trying to sell the same thing. Trying to just make any 'deal', rather than building repeat customers. No other business operates like this. I like my Ford dealer - Bowen Scarff - no dicker sticker... you want a car - the price is posted - period. I don't ask for anything beyond what they are willing to sell the product for. Takes 20 minutes to buy a new car or truck. It's a pure pleasure - even my wife enjoyed buying the Mustang for our daughters first car... I recommend them to EVERYONE - and particularly the salesman that's been there for years - Hugh Monahan. Classy operation, that makes the process a joy, not a hell on earth, get me out of here my hairs on fire! I totally TRUST him - I don't have to feel like I'm being had... I leave there glad to have made the purchase.
Glad you sold the Camaro... Wish Bowen Scarff sold Chevrolet... I'd have one already.
