I'm looking around for a first gen camaro and have seen one with what looks like a complete corvette drivetrain and rear suspension... what's involved in this... any internet writeups... approximate costs... etc.

Yay! First post! :willy:

Thanks, and I hope you guys can take greater pity on this BMW boy than my brother-in-laws do (1974 Gold Duster w/ 340 cu in and a 1970 Chevelle SS with a 540 cu in). Its my only claim to fame in the domestic muscle car world.

The front suspension swap is pretty cut and dried as it's been done quite a bit. It's as easy as a subframe swap. However, for the rear, that's a different story. It will take quite a bit of fabricating, I'd suggest talking to a professional builder that's done it before. 21st Century Street Machines (http://www.21stcenturystreetmachines.com/) would be a good place to start.

BTW, welcome to Lateral-g.

Hmmm... where the heck did they get a complete 2005 C6 drivetrain from?

Anyway, I'm thinking for the price I will probably go with a complete air ride (http://www.ridetech.com) setup front and rear. I'm sure the stuff is heavy, but its suppose to be an excellent road racing suspension.

You might want to explain what your definition of 'excellent' is. I don't think 'air bags' and 'handling' really go in the same sentence just yet. They still have some questions to answer over at PT.com
