Rob and I are heading up to Bruning Auto Design tonight to pick up my Cuda!!!!!

Its been there since Nov and they have done a fantastic job... I cant wait to see it in person.

On the way we are picking up a '55 Chevy that Chris aka Youthpastor just bought.

Its a long drive so we wont actually get there until Sat mid-day probably. I've invited a few guys from the board that live in that area to meet up with us Sat PM and BS and head out to dinner that night.

So....anyone that lives in the area that wants to meet up with us, the more the merrier. We'll head out to dinner that PM....

Bruning Auto Design is in Brush Prairie WA 98606 so anyone in the WA or Nor Oregon area its not far.....Tim's shop is at his house, so please be respectful of that and dont show up un-announced. Please call first.....I dont want his house/property getting over run by a bunch of random people without his permission/knowledge. Their # is 360-254-0066. You can call them or me to get the address

We head out this PM, so anyone interested can give me a call 209-679-4015.... thats my cell and we'll be on the road this PM and tomorrow AM

Yup. I am going. Brining my wife and son too. She needs to see why I spend so much time on this "car thingy" on line. And my son (5) is a hot rod nut!
I'm excited to meet everyone who can make it and to see the shop and the killer projects inside.
I think Gregweld (Greg) is going too. Should be a good time by all.

Was great to finally meet some of you!! I sure had a good time blabbing away like a little girl... :>)

Tim -- Thanks so much for hosting us all. What a great day... great shop... and wonderful family you have. You're a lucky man. Your work is awesome - I'm so jealous of your talent! I learned a bunch just from being near you... :>) :hail:

Chris -- Time to "reveal" your next project... then we can all start throwing huge costly ideas for you to spend your time and money on! LOL

Ned -- Car looks killer... I have two questions for you?

#1: How many cows do you have to bury your arm in to move it along from here?

#2: What was your ratio of wheel time vs. Robs?

Eric -- Good to finally meet you and your family. Thanks for inviting me to go to this event. See you at Chris's @ GoodGuys

Thanks Greg, it was nice to finally meet you too. VERY NICE Nomad by the way!
I had a great time and it was nice to put faces to names. My wife and son also enjoyed the day. She drove home, I slept:D , we got here about 1:30 am.
Thanks to Tim and his family for having us out and letting me drool all over the projects in the shop and ask a million questions!
And thanks to everyone else there, I really enjoyed just hanging out and having good conversation with a bunch of really nice people. Good times.
I have a ton of pictures of the cars and people there. I will do what I can to get them posted asap.

Chris, thanks for the short cut around the I 5 construction. It saved us at least an hour.

Roger --

Yeah I have some pics but I don't want to hijack this thread - when it's about Neds project... and I already have kind of done that.

I did just start a new thread on projects -- on the 55 post car I'm doing for my buddy... as a favor (he had a stroke). And my Nomad is in the members car section here - just look for the Turquoise and White 56 Nomad in the members section.

Best,
Greg

#2...... I'm at least up to a good 40% overall....got my % way back up on the ride home :D... not my fault... Rob was all hopped up on Monster on the way up and wouldnt let me drive.....not my fault !!!

It was great to meet you all and especially a BIG THANK YOU goes to Tim and family for letting Ned and I stay at the house, and feeding us a great lunch on Saturday (which worked wonders to overcome the rest-stop vending machine pop-tarts I ate at around 5AM.....)

Yeah Greg, Ned brought his %age way up on the way home! LOL ...it's around 670 miles each way so not too bad to do each trip in one day...The ride home was easier, since we started out fresh on Sunday AM...Friday night going up, we didn't roll out of Manteca until 8:30PM or so, then the stop in Yuba City to get Chris' 55...but we did make good time going up, no traffic...Ned is right I sure was amped up on those energy drinks, LOL!

It was great to meet a bunch of people and put faces with user names! and to yak away about cars/tools/techniques for hours...what a great time!

Chris you have to keep us all posted on your progress with that 55!

Ned get those pics up!

What kind of shape is that '55 in?

DRJDVM's '69
07-13-2009, 10:22 AM
Much better this AM :)

I'll post some pix later today after I download them off the camera get them on Photobucket etc etc.... I'll put pix of my car in my build thread and pix of the GTG here...

The ride home.....much easier with a decent amount of sleep....but alittle more "adventure" :)

So we headed out around 8 AM or so.... Tims house is in a fairly rural area so we were cruising down the back roads doing about 25 MPH or so when we ( I was driving Greg !!!) went over a dip in the road....not very big at all, just a little "whoopdy doo".....so I instinctively look in the mirror at the car trailer....and low and behold the trailer is now moving "differently" than the back of the truck....kinda bouncing around and just "not right" so I slow down some and then we could hear a loud scraping noise....... so I slow down and stop and we get out....... the fricking trailer came off the ball !!!!! Its now dragging on the tongue and the "foot"....chain still attached, wiring still attached.....and as we stopped it slid forward and hit Rob's bumper doing some damage to the plastic, but not the metal section...... HOLY **** !!!!

Now my heart is racing and all the thoughts of what could have happened rush into my head.....oh great... I go through the Race Rodz crap.....get the car back on track...spend alot of $$.... and then the trailer comes off...rolls into a ditch...flips over and the car is destroyed....oh wouldnt that be grand.....and its not insured....HOLY CRAP !!!! Well thank god it wasnt me that hooked the trailer up and even bigger is that at least it did it at 25 MPH on some small back road rather than at 70 MPH on the freeway.... THANK YOU GOD !!!!

So at that point I was thinking "now I'm gonna be all freaked out the whole ride home wondering if its gonna come off again...maybe I should let Rob drive"....but then Greg pops in my head and says " hey Mr 10%" !!!! :) So I kept driving...with my eyes glued on thr trailer.... hit a bunch of bumps etc and it stayes hooked up thank god again...

So the weather was damp when we left but was dry until about an hour into the ride and its starts to pour with rain.... GREAT..... the car is tarped up pretty good but still....at 70 MPH the water is gonna get on it somewhere....but there is nothing I can do....just hope for the best. It rained pretty bad for about an hour of driving and then stopped and was clear the rest of the way.

We got to my house around 8:30 PM and unloaded.... there is some surface rust on the driver rocker and some on the rear valance but thats all I've seen so far....... I'm sure the underside got faily wet ( the trailer is wood boards with some gaps etc )....so it is what it is and I'll have to clean up some surface rust but for the most part it made it pretty unharmed.

So overall it was a great trip....car looks awesome....I couldnt be happier ( except if my budget had allowed me to have them do even more work... I wish it did and I wish they were closer).

It was awesome to meet up with you guys....its always fun to put faces with screen names. I hope we can all meet up again.....SEMA 2009 maybe :)

A big thanks needs to got to TJ and Tim for all their hard work and dealing with me being a tight budget PITA... thank you.

Another big thanks to Tim and Gloria for letting us crash there.... you guys have a beautiful house... I am so jealous of the property and set up you have. If/when you guys came to CA, I hope to return the favor. Thank you..

I'll post up some pix later today.....
