I do not need to sell the car by no means, but it is just sitting in the garage. I am more of a water dog and enjoy the water a little more. I have found a boat that I really want and that is why I am looking to sell. Also, I just had a little boy and I feel that he would also have a lot more fun on the water as well. I am also more worried when he gets older what will happen when I turn my back for a short period of time. Thanks again for your comments!

Pictures do not do this car justice. The interior is all new (carpet, headliner, door panels, door hardware, DSE dash with autometer carbon fiber gauges, Recaro seats that are about 3 years old with 5 point harness, shifter boot, etc, etc). The exterior is nice as it looks!! The bumpers are in excellent condition, wheels are excellent with no curb marks or scuffs, good tires, aerospace slotted and drilled rotors with polished calibers, and the paint is nice. This car can not be build for what I have in it!!! PEROID!!! In my opinion, this is the best combo for a muscle car: 1969 Camaro RS, black/black, big block car, 12 bolt rear end, TKO 600 5 speed trans, and gobbes of power! Turn key car!!!

I have put the Be Cool radiator in it. I have installed the TKO 600 5 speed with twin disc cluth (1000 HP clutch), bell housing, drive shaft, pedals, cross member, etc. I have put all new interior in the car from door panels, to carpet, DSE dash with gauges, shifter boot, sill plates, rear view mirror, etc. I have also added the billet taillights and fog lights along with DSE hood hindges. I installed a new dart intake with polished intake bolts, new procharger blower hat, new weather stipping, and added some new braided brake lines. I have also purchased a new DSE electric headlight conversion, but it has not been installed yet. Also made the exhaust exit behind rear tires. New battery!

I have had 5-6 people that are real interested, but no one has brought me the money. The people that are interested in this car, knows what it cost to build this type of car. I had the car out this past weekend (first time in over 2 months) and drove through a cruise in, but did not stop, and everyone at that event was pointing and looking. Guys, there are not to many cars on the street that are running this kind of power, sound, and reliablity at this kind of price. I need to make a youtube video of this car and I think that will sell it.

Yes, the car had a powerglide in it when I purchase the car. It was hard on the car driving it on the interstate with the way the transmission was geared. This car can now be driven anywhere with more reliablity and better gas mileage!

I don't want to come off as negative -- but right now -- I think, is a horrible time to try to sell ANYTHING. It's like the whole world put a clamp on their wallets all at the exact same time.
I have two buddies that are taking 30+ cars to Hot August Nights... and I'm thinking they just might be real disappointed at the bidding. Nice cars too! And usually nice stuff (like your Camaro) sells no matter what... but I'm thinking that if you put this car on here 18 months ago - it wouldn't have been there more than an hour or two.
Nice car - Nice price!

I agree that it is a horrible time to sell, but I do not have to. I would like to buy my neighbors boat, but if I cannot get what I think this car is worth, then I will hold onto the car until the market turns around. The weird thing about it is that I have had 3 people in California real interested in the car, but still have had no one come and look at the car. If I can find someone in the market to buy this kind of car and has the money, as soon as they drive this car they will be sold!! I was holding off till the first of next month to put the car on ebay because I was told by a buyer in California that they are getting the money together and would purchase the car at the begining of August. Will see!!
fleetus macmullitz
07-30-2009, 11:26 AM
That's a huge advantage you have of not having to sell.
The advantage to a buyer is that they immediately have a car that has more power than 99% of the vehicles on the road.

If you want to sell, I think you're going to have to put it on ebay, car advertisement web site, aution etc.
Sites like these are mostly DIY'er and builders, not buyers.
Don't go to low on the price before you advertise it elsewhere.

The guy that met the reserve last night has already called me and he went to his bank this morning to pull money off of his line of credit and it is frozen. He was unaware of this and now trying to send an appraiser to my home to have the car appraised to see if he can get financing. I see this deal falling through. I just dont think you can get a car like this financed with little money down. This car may have to show back up on ebay in a week or so. If this helps, tell him to call JJ Best. They are lenders for muscle cars/classic cars. They will probably help him out A LOT MORE than just a regular bank. They know what these types of cars are and their value. GOOD LUCK!!

Good recommendation Tones!
The last car I bought off eBay -- I waited til the auction was over (I had emailed the seller a couple of times and told him of my intentions) and drove down to actually see and drive the car (I live in Seattle - the car was in Bakersfield). I have a buddy that is an auto dealer - I gave him a check for the "deal" -- when I called him and said I was going to buy it - he wire transfered the money to the seller and since he's a dealer = had the capacity to handle the title and all that. I loaded up the car and brought it home. If I had wanted to - he would have also been able to find financing etc. Worked out great -- I paid the dealer $500 for his troubles and paperwork.
My personal opinion doesn't count here about financing - but if you can't pay cash for your toys - you shouldn't have any. Toys and financing stuff you can't afford - is why we're in the mess we're in right now! But that's just my personal rant. :willy:
Hope the sale goes through for you.... many times you can do the "ebay second chance offer" and one of the other bidders might just jump on it.

Yeah, I almost bought a '69 Camaro SS that was pretty clean/rust free and was going to use them to finance the car. Still kind of mad at myself for not doing it, but everything happens for a reason.
(I do agree with your personal rant to the fullest too!!! I'm right behind you. I cannot pay cash for my toys, but they are always all paid off before the loans end. I agree that the people that went over board with the cash they "thought" they had and the idiots that gave them the loans are both to blame. But this is for another thread at another time.)

I think he will get financing for the car no problem, assuming his credit is okay. The appraisals of these cars is what helps. They always come in much higher than what you can sell them for, unlike normal production cars.
If your appraisal comes in at $80k+ which I think is a no brainer, then he should be able to get financing from JJ Best. And specialty car financing is pretty damn attractive as far as terms go compared to normal production cars from what I have seen.
Good luck.

I'd bet the banks appraisals are very conservative right now. Keep in mind that an independent appraisal may be different than the bank idea of value. Money is tighter and that is a custom car.

I just went through this process with JJ Best about 4 months ago. They no longer do cash-out refi's (understandably!) but they are still doing purchases as long as appraisals come in. And the appraisal is not what I would be concerned with. Hopefully this guy has SOME cash to put down...

They want you to put some cash down on the car.

Like I used to tell my kids when they were still in high school.... "No B's - No Keys"
People with no real down payments - like 25 or 40%... are going to find it tough to finance. My buddies (3 dealers) have all told me that has been a real problem for them - they get a car sold - and can't finance the guy. You've got to have gold plated credit - and real money up front.

Found out later today that we can not make the deal work. The high bidder does not have enough money to put down to get the financing period. I have contacted the second highest bidder (from California), which he had an appraiser come to my home. The appraiser was very impressed with the car, but did relay everything to the buyer that did not look right. The appraiser did not like the fiberglass hood fitment (all fiberglass hood bow), 3 gauges did not work (fuel gauges not hooked up because of fuel cell, car used to have a powerglide in car so trans temp gauge did not work because car has 5 speed, and speedo needs to have 2 wires run to make work), and one little spot on top of the car which was not preped right ($200.00 fix and you can hardly see it). This buyer is still interested but wants to see the finally appraisal on the car and he is going to make his final decision. This guy wants to make this car super nice. He is wanting to install a Detroit Speed subframe, undercoat the bottom, smooth the firewall, put a polished stainless exhaust on the car, put in new leather seats, install a stainless fuel tank, and so on. The guy currently has a 2009 Lambo roadster that he paid $440,000.00 for. :wow: He says he has very nice toys.
I am going to send out a couple of second chance offers to people that did bid on the car and hope something works out. But I am not going to give this car away. You guys know just as well as me what it takes to make a car of this caliber.

WOW. If the dude is seriously interested, he should just buy it. Obviously he has the cash to make it good as new. That is a good looking/sounding car for the money. Good luck Darin.

if it is a $200 fix can't you fix it? Hook the wires up, etc etc. $64,000 for a car is a lot of dough to have nickle and dime stuff not finished. Good luck with the sale. I love the color with the wheels

I do not mind spending the money to fix the problem that he is addressing, but then again he wants a $100,000 car for a $64,000 price. He is the type of guy that does not get dirty nor work on cars. You guys know where I am coming from. You are never done working on a older muscle car. There is always going to be something that you want to do, or something that needs to be done to the car. These older cars need constant attention.

Relisted on ebay!!! Come and get it. Hopefully this auction will not end like the last waterhead that tried to buy the car. Thanks again for all your support. I just wish someone on this site would buy the car so I could at least see the car every now and then. :)

The guy that met the reserve last night has already called me and he went to his bank this morning to pull money off of his line of credit and it is frozen.
Not real surprising in this economy. My dad has several lines of credit set up for his business and wrote a check for $80k last week and even called to verify that all was fine with using $80k of the credit line before writing the check because he rarely used the account anyway.
They called him a few days after he deposted it in his regular bank account and told him that they were sending the check back and were no longer going to be able to maintain the line of credit for him because their business model had changed. Needless to say, he was pissed and had now closed every account he had with Wells Fargo.
Like I said in one of my previous emails to you about the car, I'll still trade you my boat for it. I don't mind fixing the little stuff. I had already put together a list of other stuff I wanted to do to it anyway.
If you change your mind, let me know, it will be a lot less BS than you are dealing with now. In fact, no BS as far as I am concerned and my boat is show quality throughout and needs nothing. What coule it need, it is better than new!

Nice to here from ya. I really do not know what I am going to do if the car sells. I am currently a mortgage broker and with the way this economy is going I may just pocket this money till the economy turns around. I am still pretty busy at work, but things can change pretty quick in my business. I will keep you in mind if I decide to change my mind. I have been offered many trades from a 2007 Z06 with 600 miles, to a Dodge Viper with Hennsey upgrades, boats, choppers, and etc. I think this car will sell, its finding that person that is wanting a muscle car with these kinds of mods done to it.
