Is it worth it to take a 3 piece wheel apart to change the barrells or is it best left to the wheel manufacturer?

If you want to reduce the chance of leaks and make sure that they are assembled true then let the manufacturer do it. Also put new hardware on when you do it.

Dont do it yourself unless you have all the proper tools, you will make the wheel unsafe. Send it back in to have it done right or find someone in your area that knows what they are doing and has been doing it for years.

Like the other guys mentined......"DON'T DO IT YOURSELF." It's more to it than just unbolting the center from the barrels. Send it back to the manufacturer or a reputable wheel seller who sells 3 piece wheels and knows what he's doing. It will cost more money to have them do it but it will save you money in the end.
Quick story:
A buddy of mine has a CLS 63. He has some 22" Asanti's on it. Thought he could save some money and just break the wheels down and unbolt them and just slap some silicone between the barrels upon reassemble. Boy, was he mistaken. Neither of the 4 wheels after that would ever hold air.
