As always things have been crazy around the shop. We just had finished up the 29 Model A that won HROTY at Indy and are working on getting a few cars done for Columbus Goodguys.. Here are pics of a 72 Chevelle we are building for Pittsburgh Steeler Kendall Simmons. As you can see in the pics the car needed extensive metal work, basically all panels were replaced with new Goodmark steel including a entire roof transplant.. The body rests on a Art Morrison chassis with full ART suspension and Wilwood brakes. We know how much you guys like pics so sit back and enjoy..The pics will show the car from the start through full mock up and assembly. Multiple posts to follow.

We cut the hood all apart to put our own touch on it.. We had the hood pins/locks machined and they work on the same concept and the gas caps that you push down and twist then they pop up so you can unscrew them. As you can see countless hours were spent making the hood what we had envisioned.

I have a question about the gauges. I did not see a tachometer in there. Am I wrong?
Again, awesome work guys.:wow:

The tach is in the bottom center of the speedo.. Its not really big but thats what rev limiters are for!!
absolutely amazing! You guys have some serious metal working skills!
Beautifuly done!

Nice work, just curious, what is drive height on this car or the chevelle?
RPM HOTRODS
07-01-2009, 01:34 PM
It will roll all the way down. Ride height is about 3 inches higher than it sits in the pictures and will lift about 6.5 or 7 inches all the way around maxed out.

I'll try to find some pictures of the dash from the backside before it was paint, but for now lets just say a ton of work went into it to make it fit the way it is now!!! Kind of a cool story about the dash. Kendall's father in law's first car that he took to college and meet his wife in was a 60 Imapla. Not knowing this we just came across the dash in a bone yard we call "The Field of Dreams" cut it out and figured we could make it work. Couple hundred hours later, Kendall father in law walks into the shop and had tears in his eyes about the memories behind that dash in his Impala. Maybe thats were Kendall's wife.... while I'll stop there. I got to get back to work to get this thing done in time and tell stories later. Thanks Guys

The Chevelle was finished up just in time and made the trip.. It got alot of attention and we received a ton of great comments about the car.. It did not get a top 5 but performed great on the autocross track and we had fun throwing our luggage in it and driving it back and forth to the hotel and all around all weekend.. In other news our Trans Am did get a top 5!! I will try to get a build thread going for that car soon!

No, we did the interior in house. It was the first car that we completely did the interior ourselves. The armrests, quarters, trunk, package tray center console and a few other pieces are all sheet metal that we fab and have a boat load of time in. It turn out killer and we are all happy with it. We just had our regular interior guys load up with the TA and a few other projects and we only had 3 weeks to get it done. Everyone at the shop thought I was nuts and didn't think we could get it done, but we all hammered it out. I just can't say enough about my guys at the shop they are just knocking it out now!!! As for the top 5, we got the TA in there and that was all we were looking for. It would have been killer to get them both in but I just don't think that would happen. But we will try again next year with something new!!! Thanks for all the compliments guys.
