1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu For Sale $13,750!! Gold w/ Tan Interior
I bought this car from the original owner in March of this year, so I am the second owner. I was going to do a pro-touring restoration with 18" wheels, LS or Big Block motor, Detroit Speed, Global West, or AirRide suspension upgrades, etc, etc....
After looking for about 6 months, I found this car on ebay. I wanted to find a great body, unmolested, original style car that was not an SS so that I could purchase it for a reasonable price and save money because I was starting with a really good car that had all of the parts and required very little bodywork to paint it. The original owner bought the car in Virginia, and I have the protecto-plate, original Bill of Sale from the dealership, and 1966 Chevelle Owner's Manual. This car is everything I was looking for, and the only reason I am selling is because of some unexpected expenses due to the economy.
It has a 283 V8 with a PowerGlide automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rearend. The car sat for about 10 years without being started, so I had my local mechanic go through it and tune up the motor, replace the gas tank and sending unit, change all fluids in the transmission, rearend, radiator, engine, etc. All the drum brakes were serviced with new shoes and fluids. All bulbs, headlights, tailights, wiper motors, and any other mechanicals you would need to drive the car regularly were serviced and freshened up. The carburetor was rebuilt as well. All total, I spent $2,000 on the car and it runs like a top. I drive it to work a couple of days a week, and to a couple of local cruise-ins over the past couple of months.
The body is fantastic. There are a couple of little dings and a few spots where it looks like it was spot-painted. The floorpans and trunk pans are excellent, and anyone that has ever restored an old car knows that you save money in the long run by starting with the nicest bodied car that you can afford.
I have a clear Georgia title, and the original documentation that I mentioned earlier. This is a car that you can buy for a very reasonable price and drive it anywhere, anytime. If this were an original SS 138 car, it would be $20,000. You could restore it and turn it into a pro-touring car with the great parts that are now available to bolt-on, or just be like everyone else and make a SS clone. Malibu's are a dying breed, and there are way more SS cars now than GM built in 66! Just kidding with all the guys that love or have "clones".
Feel free to give me a call with any questions, or shoot me an email.
I am located in Cumming, Georgia, which is about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta.
(I cannot get my pics to upload because I cannot shrink their size, so please shoot me an email and I will send them to you. I have about 17 total.)
Thanks,
Chuck
