Bummer!

If I recall correctly, I think Frank at Prodigy sells some sort of tracking device.

If they want it they will get it. Just install a alarm and a cut off switch somewhere in the car.
I have seen a GPS blocker work in action. They have blockers that will block any signal.

If someone wants your car bad enough they will get it. Toss a kill switch in the car and insure it.

Yeah it's the GPS Snitch, and it's a piece of garbage. The lojack is far better.

The race team that my family works for in Charlotte has them on everything, transporters, trailers, anything expensive. They work great and they are getting cheaper all the time. You can configure each module with very specific notifications so that you don't get an alarm via phone call or text message, unless there is movement out of a specified range, and also set rules depending on what day of the week it is. They have already recovered a stolen Freightliner Sport Chassis with it in the last year.

Rob -- So..... what is "it"? Nice story -- just lacking a few particulars...

Greg I will have to ask my brother in law what the manufacturer of the system they use is. There are a lot of competing systems in this market nowadays, which all do about the same thing.

I can tell you what it isnt. Lo-jack. I wouldn't waste a dime on that stuff. The conditions for that system to work is a joke. The thief has to be driving by a car that has been stolen, and within 20-25 yards of a police car equipped with a lo-jack system.

Id be real interested to see the stats on how many vehicles are recovered with lo-jack, it has to be astronomically low.

They have been using two systems. The transporters have a system by GlobalWave and it's extremely accurate and reliable but not cheap, it's the first one that they got and have been using it for about 6 yrs now. They are also using a new cheaper system on all the other stuff, trailers, gen set, etc even the owners personal aircraft has one, it's called Land-Air-Sea and they like that one a lot. I'm sure you can google them. As I mentioned there are several systems on the market now.
