Mark won the road course part of the Motorstate Challenge at Gingerman today in Jackass. Pretty amazing for a brand new car with no real track time to sort it out, full street tires also. Charley will be popping in I'm sure, but he said the car is just so easy and comfortable to drive fast , it's amazing. I think Charley had 9th fastest time, so he was hauling too.............. Can't wait to hear all the particulars.

There's still the Autocross tomorrow, but Stielow won the road course segment. And that with Jackass on regular Michelin PS2 street tires.

yes. Steve's car hauls the mail on an autocross. On the road course I think Mark went 1:36, Charley was 9th at 1:41, and I think Penny was in the 1:45 range. DSE held 2nd and 3rd best times in their two cars, but I didn't get the actual time.

What a well run event. Our cruise to the park for the BBQ had at least three different police agencys helping with traffic. They also set aside two floors of a parking garage for us in the case of hail etc in case it was needed. This tiny laptop is too hard to type on. Yes Stielow finished first in todays road course. The car works so well for it's first track test. The brakes are amazing. They grip even harder as they get hot.Lots of fast cars on the track and lots of guys learning and having a great time. A big thanks to all the sponsors and everyone that made this thing happen. I'm sure they will do it again.

So what was the tire rule? Who ran what? DSE is usually on BFGs?

nothing lower than a 100 wear rating, and had to be dot legal, not grooved racing tires to be eligible for the competition.

i think what alot of people dont think about is that mark also probally has a good amout of seat time on the road course... and road course driving is a hole nother beast compared to auto-x... so its not really a situation of penny or another car not performing just as good its the driver. i mean theres no doubt jackass is a god amongst 69s :D but suspension wise theres a good amount of competitors that have car that are in the same class.

Nice finally meeting you Jake. Jake is a nice guy with a Killer car for those that haven't met him.

As for Jackass..Yes Stielow is a great driver and could have been competitive in his Solstice but what just happened is we ran a brand new car that the only sorting we had done was friday and we were changing rear springs in the rain Friday night in the Hotel parking lot. Anyone that has ever put together a new car knows of all the sorting that has to be done. It absolutely hauls ass. It stops on a dime. It didn't over heat. It didn't starve for fuel in the turns etc. I'm your average open track driver. I don't have a comp license. I think Bill told me I finished third in open track for the Non DSE, air ride etc cars. The car ran and ran. Yes I have a ton of money in it and you could call it a high dollar build but it is a car that is going to get driven. We still have sorting to do. It only has a 7/8" swaybar that we confirmed this weekend is too small. AME was already sending us a larger one but we had to leave for the event before it arrived.

Autocross we are not set up for at all. It was very well run but doing a whole event in first gear is not my cup of tea.

I'm still in Awe of how well the People at Lane Automotive treated all of us. All the sponsors of this event deserve your business. This was a event for the people that frequent Lateral-g.net and Pro-touring.com. I think they will do another one next year and you should go if you can.

I love the competition, aspect of this. Looks like Penny has some stiff competiton this time.

Yes JA is Charley's car. He asked me to build it and I helped with the build. I project managed it and engineered it. Reiter's did most of the work on the car. They did the body work, paint and assembled it. Stenod did the exhaust and the roll cage. I had help from a lot of people.

I'm very happy with the way JA turned out.

The Motor State deal was great. A very will run event. There were a lot of great guys there with cool cars that we all being driven hard.

Wow...was bad penny competing?

Yep, but the car was brand new (since the last road course event) with new springs, sway bars and such.

The valving for the Bilsteins are off now, need some adjustables, also cooked the BP20 street pads since Pozzi and I were both beating on the car.

Penny had the fastest autocross time (with Pozzi) driving and I think I had the fourth fastest with myself driving.

David came in 3rd place overall for the event. If he would have matched his qualifying time in the finals he would have gotten 2nd, but that's the way the cookie crumbles in racing.

We know what we need to do to make her better and that's the most important part.

Oh, I got to drive JACKASS.. Holy crap! that car has INSANE brakes. The power is pretty crazy as well, first class ride!

Congrats to both Mark and Charlie... great job

I agree with these guys, plenty of time until the Optima Challenge to get the car sorted back out. There definitely is no loser in an event like this one. I'm hoping to get my car out on Spring Valley raceway prior to the Optima Challenge to sort it out a little as well.

Oh, we lost the road race section.. but that's racing and there's no shame in that.

Mark, Kyle, Jake, and Ryan are great drivers in great cars.

We did do a little redeeming in the autocross. I checked and if you take out the new Corvette on race tires then Penny placed 1st and 3rd.
