Shame no one came out. Would love to see more cars start showing up at track days. It was a little hot, but once the wind kicked up a little it felt perfect. Turned a 1:34 best lap of the day. Not bad considering the ariel atom was turning 1:28 and Ferrari 1:32...
Brought my brother in law out in his 997 4S with an EvoMS blower on it. He had a great time and posted a best of 1:36. Met a lot of great people and learned a lot. I think next time I might bump up to the black run group. I didn't need to give a point by the entire day.
I need quick ratio power steering asap.
Video of the 1:34.

Thanks Skip. Fixed it!
heres some funny footage of me sliding all around the track after a vette leaked 7 quarts of oil all over the line and an s2000 lost its trans drain plug... I was watching all my footage today with my brother in law and we realized EVERYONE was spinning after the fluids... That'd explain everyone leaving after the attempt to clean it up. I thought it was just me getting tired/lazy.

And my brother in law spinning in his session after the fluids as well.

Nice musclecar sounds...
Other than having the same steering issues a Zamboni normally has, :wow: it looked like it'd be a lot of fun on a normal day.

On a bigger track like the Fontana roval the car isn't as bad, but when tracks get real tight like streets of willow, its just a monster to drive. Going to do hydroboost, quick ratio power steering and a cooler for both next. And a new steering wheel
I have a TON of respect for the trans am series drivers. Mad men, all of them.

Cool man. Looks like a good time. You definitely get to learn alot about your car. Any third-gen Camaros there?

Not a single other Domestic vehicle but 2 vettes. Pretty typical for track events. You see a lot of vettes and an occasional mustang. A lot of Ford GTs and cobra kits as well.
Only seen one other pro-touring car at an event and the guy said he doesn't visit the forums much. Badass car. Forget his name but we were at Fontana. He said he runs with the socal pantera group frequently. Nice guy.

Loved his tow vehicle as well. I was brought home from the hospital as a newborn in a k5 blazer :P

My eventual plan is to show to go to these. What group or association is renting the track on the days you go? What are the requirements for getting on the track? Rollbar requirement? 5 point harness? Fire extinguisher? Safety wiring the drain plugs? Or is it just DOT rubber and no leaks? Or something in between?
I have some track experience. I've run on the big track out there in a winston west car at one of those arrive and drives along wiht a day at the roundy round at Irwindale. I've also run the big track on a motorcycle along with running a shifter kart on many of the local tracks.
I'd put my running partially completed project on a trailer and take it out tomorrow to establish a base line prior to my future mods if it's a possibility.
I've got good working 4 wheel discs brakes and some new speed rated tires so the most important control items are covered. The suspension is working pretty well for street standards and I would like some track time. The streets seems like a good place to start.

Nice man, your car is one of the coolest around. Sounds like the chase scene from bullitt.
