I am just about to start on my next project and would like a matt or satin black body but just how easy is it to care for and not end up with greasy patchy marks all over? Should I just base coat and clear instead?

You can wipe it down with wax and grease remover

PPG makes a egg shell clear. I forgot the number on the can. If you go this route you'll be able to care for if just like a normal paint job,

well you can either buy a flat clear like ppgs flexed'n flat clear or at some flattening agent to some single stage. overall i think you will like the flat clear. you dont have to worry about chemical stains and such

I like the idea of the flatting agent in the clear. The irony is, when I was a sprog in my early years as a paint sprayer, we used to refer to PPG as "piss poor gloss". I guess they have come a long way in the last 20 years.
