Thought I'd show pics of something not normally seen here. Personally, the paint scheme is growing on me. That optional interior is very cool IMO. Car was just sold, dealer was asking $53,900. Has a 265 in it and it looks the same way underneath.

I don't know, looks too nice to tear apart... but on the flip side, you would think you'd be safe from finding any surprises when working on it.

that car is to nice to do whatever is the coolest thing to do right now... it is a classic, it will never look dated as is.. but you can bet money (literally) that once you touch it.. it will be worth less in 5 years than if you had just left it alone... and it will never be that cool again

X2. If someone wanted to mod it, maybe a set of wheels and tires and call it good (I would drop it a bit also). Those parts can always be returned to stock without any scars.

Very nice car, Skip.

Interesting responses...

I thought guys here would throw a motor in it and a competent chassis underneath it.

I am with the " leave it alone" crowd... To many other willing candidates out there to get chopped and welded...

Part of me wants to leave it alone, part of me wants to throw the pro-touring goodies at it. :_paranoid :unibrow:
It is a really nice car though.

Most here are level headed. Don't even think about doing anything to that except change the oil, IMO.

Leave it alone. That car just looks Bad A$$ as it sits. You can always find another car to PT.

I am of the "stock sucks" crowd most of the time. But that is too nice to cut up I think. Like was said in another post, maybe wheels and a drop. Nothing that can't be undone easy. Some cars just shouldn't be changed, but I wouldn't ever own one of them.

Another vote for leave it alone. Way too cool to mess with.

I think that interior looks great. I wouldn't do anything that could not be 'unbolted'. I agree with the comment about a possible wheel/tire change. I would consider a bolt-on front disc setup if I was going to drive it much. Cool car.

Take it to the shows as is, you will be amazed at the people that will give it the thumbs up! That thing is super cool.

What Stuart said.

Man don't even fart through the seat covers. Leave that one be.

Its too nice, find urself a project then cut lol the 55-57 and even a 52-54 are awsome cars. 1 of my favourite cars is a 54 Belair.

Leave it alone, don't mess up a good thing. That is not a barn find ready to be done up, it is perfect the way it is. If anything put wheels on it and leave the rest alone.

That is too cool. I wouldn't touch it, some things are better left untouched.

It's survived this long...I'd say it has earned the right to stick around as is a bit longer. Leave it be.

I disagree, why not buy a 55 tri-5 shell for 1/10th the cost, and cut it up, rather than cut up a beautiful original... It just doesn't make sense, financially or morally.

gotta draw the line somewhere.

You don't buy a $56k restored peach and take a sawzall to the rear tubs.

I'd think it'd be a much easier conversion going from a pro-street tri-5 as well. Look at bad penny.

If that car is from Happy Day Dream Cars, it's a top-notch ride. John always has nice cars.

I say bolt on a set of 19's and 20's, give it a stance and leave the rest alone.

Laeve that one alone, buy a $5,500 beater and pt that one, put the same paint scheme on it and drive both of them to the show.

Skip did you buy this car and are now trying to decide what to do with it, or is this a purely hypothetical discussion?

Either way, I would leave that car alone, or if it is impossible to resist the urge, I would perhaps only add some minimal period-correct bolt-on parts so that the car could easily be returned to the same (bone-stock) configuration.

I once sold a 69 Z/28 RS because it was a matching numbers car - with enduro bumper etc... but I wanted a PT car.... why cut up a perfectly good car when there are so many POS just waiting for a rebirth... so sold it and bought a nice low mile Drop top with a 307 and a 3 speed on the column... that NOBODY wanted... fools... it's a great body!

You can buy someone's half assed 327 4 speed "hot rod" and save yourself 25 grand.... toss a Morrison chassis under it - and still not be where this survivor car is...

Rob,

It was one of those ads you see you where it says the car was sold already, so yes, it is a purely hypothetical question.
