hello all. i've got a chance to get an ls2 for a great price and would like to put this in my 2nd gen. camaro. it's an '80 z28. the engine is a long block, oil pan to throttle body still in the crate. what's it going to take to get this thing in and get it rolling? like mounts, can i use my headers off my 350, will it bolt up to a 700r4, and i've heard it's a drive-by-wire setup instead of an acc. cable. thanks in advance.

you'll need motor mount adaptors and most likely an oil pan from Autokraft or similar. The 700R4 will physically bolt up but no place to hook up the tv cable it needs to operate, especially if you use the drive by wire. You could convert to a cable operated throttle body, but will still be difficult to get the tv cable working right, if it's even possible. Plus you need a crankshaft spacer to use that older trans.
Much simpler to go to an LS based 4L60E trans. Your headers will not work, exhaust flange is completely different. You'll also need a stock computer and harness to run the throttle by wire, or a Big Stuff 3 or other aftermarket system to run the engine if converting to a throttle cable. If you switch to a later electronic trans then you'll need a computer to run that also. Custom trans crossmember, driveline mods, figure out what front drive you want to run that will fit the Camaro subframe, etc.
It's a bolt in with the aftermarket mounts, pan, etc. but will require a list of things to get it completed and running.
