So in my project I'm working on my tubs currently. Welding and smoothing them out as best I can, now I'm new on the body work thing, but I'm curious how flat the welds have to be before using filler. Basically one side is flush and you can see a line on the other side, I don't want to risk welding it anymore since it's so thin. But will I have a issue spreading filler over a weld that isn't perfectly smooth? A friend said it had to be perfect or it'd create an air bubble.

By the way, this is going under line-x I just want it as smooth as possible before hand.

Yo want the panels to match always use the least amount of filler. If the panel is to thin then you need to think about replacing it. Idf you are using line-x, it dosent have to be perfect. Juast make your you sand it nice and prime it well. I would self-etch prime the panel before body work, so you get it in all the cracks.

Thats what I was thinking, it's not super thin, just would be easy to skim coat it, I'm not talking very much. But I was thinking about the LINEX also, probably don't even need to worry about the part I'm talking about. I'll get some pics... thanks guys

I got it nice and smooth, just had to turn my welder down a bit.

What do you guys like for filler? Rage?
