Im finishing up my stock 67 camaro stock subframe and i'm getting ready to buy my speed tech upper and lower arms. I have a couple of questions:
#1: How necessary is it to go with a 2 way adjustable coilover setup on the front (and rear for that matter). Planning on using the G-link later.
#2: Is QA-1 and varishock comparibly equal? or is one better than the other?
Thanks,
Kyle

I am not sure what you mean by a 2 way adjustable? If your refering to a adjustable coil over front kit. I prefer a good full coil spring and sperate shock set up over the bolt in coil over conversion kits.
As for which is better. We sell a fair amount of both brands with great sucsess. I personally have cars with QA1a and Varishocks, and love them both.

Adjustable dampeners. Rebound and compression VS just compression. Right? Ummm.. For the front I see it as an additional tuning tool. For the rear I used single adjustable. JR

frank i think he means single adj or double adj. ei: compression and rebound.
I have no first hand experience with either of them but do know that C.A used to sell QA-1s but after many customer complaints decided to make the varishocks and "fix" what ever problems there were with the QA-1s

That is correct. I was referring to single adjustable vs. double adjustable

Of coarse. I don't know what I was thinking. The entire front coil over thing through me for a loop.
The double adjustable is nice but not needed on a pure street car. Really, the double adjust ables come in handy in hardcore race applications best. If your a serious autocrosser or road racer, sure the extra adjust ability is very nice. Going to drag race? REALLY nice for that. Going to do a little of both, autocross on Saturday and drag race on Sunday? Then absolutely double adjustable.

Well the car will be driven hard on back country roads where there are a lot of twisties. Maybe take it to the drag strip once or twice a year. But i have no plans as of now to do any autocross events. So with that being the intention of the car, does it look like single or double are needed.
Also, if double are needed would you say that they would be more helpful in the rear or front? ...or absolutely necessary to do both?
I'm just trying to get a better understanding of when and where they are needed.
Thanks

i agree for a street car the double adjustable is not required
if you going to do the upper and lowers already then look at the suspension pack #2 it will save you some $$$$ when adding the coil over conversion
i like the coil over deal due to the ride height adjustability, i think the QA1 may be more reliable ??? but thet are basically he same.

Any idea what the "FIX" was? Or problem for that matter.

Single adj. are good for most street cars. DA fronts allow you to change the compression vs. rebound ratio and turn a street or performance handling shock into a drag shock by just turning two knobs. We usually only use DA rears on big horsepower cars on small tires. They use a lot of weight transfer to hook up their power and it can transfer back too fast unloading the rear tires and causing them to go up in smoke part way down the track. DAs allow you to dial in more rebound to retard the weight transferring back up front and keep them hooked better. If you`re not in that boat DA fronts are much more useful. We`ve used both QA1 and Varishock over the years and we have plenty of both come into the shop. IMO the Varishocks are more reliable, more repeatable and better built. We`ve tossed more than a few sets of toasted QA1s right in the dumpster. Spend a few bucks more and get the better product. Think carefully before you order coil overs and ask yourself why you want them. Even the best conversions involve some compromise and you way be better off with adj. shocks and conventional performance springs. If you want adj. ride height too just use SPC Performance tubular lowers with adj. ride height. Mark SC&C
