I am seeing a ton of different opinions on soda blasting as a method of removing old paint and getting to the bare metal. Some paint manufacturers say they will not warranty paint on a car that has been soda blasted. Any experiences good or bad with soda blasting from body guys would be appreciated. Can it be done with good results?? Thanks for the help.

We've been having a lot of cars soda blasted here at BOS. We all seem to like it b/c all it does is remove the paint. It doesn't blow out the rust. Its basically alot more gentle then using media and definitely sand so theres no warpage. The downside to using any blasting method is the cleaning afterwards. Typically after we get a car back from soda blasting it takes about a full day to blow out any remaining media as well as acid washing the car and rinsing with water. at that point the car is ready for epoxy prime.

make sure to clean off all soda residue, if you don't get it all off, you'll have adhesion problems,or better off just mediablast ,you won't have to worry about paint falling off
