I am stipping out the interior of Penny becasue I am anal like that and want to do it the right way.. the interior will end up looking almost exactly the same but I like to make sure everything is sealed up right and the right sound deadner is used..

Previous owner used some sort of spray adhesive (3M) to glue the foil backed jute to the floor of Penny. I want to clean it all off so I can coat it in POR-15 and then dynamat the whole deal.

Anything good for dissolving the glue? I was thinking some sort of paint stripper and a scraper..

Ideas and "tricks" would be appreciated!

On a side note the floors look great considering they are almost 40 years old.. Also funny that I found pennies glued to the floor to cover up some screw holes. guess I named the car right!

Thanks!

We use some stuff called Speedy 500 here at the body shop to remove molding adhesive on doors and stuff! not sure if will work for your app but it is worth a shot!

I've had good luck with a heat gun, putty knife and lacquer thinner..... Just not all at the same time! :D

I’ve used those tools before, scary to run make sure your shirt is tucked in and you have on safety glass. Those wires really hurt when they come off the wheel.

After some elbow grease annd a putty knife, I used a wire cup brush on a 4" Angle grinder. It bared the metal but didn't cut into it. It looked like like brand new when I was done. It was a shame to cover it up. I used hammerite to spray it and then dynomat extreme.

By the way..

I tried the GOOF OFF stuff in a spray can.. just dusted and area with it and it all came up VERY easily with a putty knife.. I was amazed at how well it worked!

I just need to wipe it down with laquer thinner and then go to town with the POR-15.

All original floors with just a tiny bit of surface rust. Looks like she once had welded in race seats.
