I am by no means a mopar guy. I found a very straight 70 Cuda coupe way back in the hills of AR this weekend.
what I found out by checking out there car:
interior-clean, needs new seat covers, headliner, carpet. looks clean
body-very straight car. Little bondo in DS Quarter, and the front left fender has enough bondo where is has feather cracked, probably will need replaced.
pans are solid, trunk is solid, couldn't find any rust anywhere on the car.
Original paint-silver blue needs repainted. with vinyl top- it was taken off.
SB motor-not sure 340 maybe?, 4 speed w/ hurst shift handle.
engine is clean, car runs. This car will need complete restoration.
My grampa is going to help me purchase the car, so I am gonna shoot an offer to the guy. I know without pics it sucks to give a value. I for sure do not need anymore cars to work on with my college schedule but it is a cuda, one of my many favorite cars.

Thanks, Andrew

I couldn't tell ya. All I know is that 1970 is THE year to have. So hopefully it is worth more than the seller thinks. Good luck.

It depends on options and condition. A good restorable muscle car like a Cuda can be from $1 to more than $10,000. I'd say if it was under $5,000 jump on it.

Sounds like a good start. 70 is definately the year to have. Good luck with it.

Are there any mechanical differences between a 70 and say, a 71? Or are the differences purely aesthetic?

They are crazy priced.. way worse than '69 Camaros.. I saw an unrestored driver for sale at Columbus Good Guys for $35k!

Check on Collector Car Trader Online and see what they are going for there.

Here is one going for $17k as is..

I thought '71 was the more valuable year... but then again, '70 was the only year of the AAR, so maybe '70s are worth more for cloning.

No your right 71's are usually priced twice as much as 70's but the 70's are abit more popular to the common market.
A clean 70 with no rust in original condition....if owner doesn't know what it is...$2500-5000
If the owner knows what he has... $15,000 - $20,000. even so jump on it,its a great investment. Good luck.

Its a four speed, number one. The rest is you paying his price. There is a white "Vanishing Point" Mopar in my town and he wants 5K.The car is as rough as a night in jail. Good luck

I've actually been searching for a '70 Cuda.... if you dont want it, let me know.... or I'll buy it from you !!!!!

'70 is "the" year, but there were very few '71 made, so they are more rare and thus more $$$

I appreciate the feedback. I will know more about an offer at the end of the week. Whoever owns the car, well the car is worth more than his trailer that he lives in. I find deals like this all the time, seems like there is less than 1% chance of them going through. we will see though! It sure is a nice looking car though.

DRJDVM's '69 all keep you in mind also.

Less than 10 miles from my house is a 70 challenger 440 car, 4 speed. and black interior. All original w/ engine and trans. Guy wants 20K. hasn't been tagged since 80' Little pricy for this car though! It needs floors, and RH lower quarter. Small baseball size dent in roof. I haven't seen the car in year or so.

Talked with my grandpa this afternoon. Found out some good info. 440 car with 4 speed. I wish I had my digital camera that on me that day. This car is a nice solid project car, but I am mainly interested in restoring the car and selling it to make a profit to go back in my camaro or buy it and resell it.

I don't see myself having to put much into the car other than time. The car will need a minimal amount of bodywork, paint job. I would do an off frame restoration so I would have the car baking soda blasted to start and detail the undercarriage. I am going to visit a friend tommorow to see if the car is worth his asking price.

DRJDVM's '69-I sent you a PM

I love that year. I saw a green AAR back in '85 that was mint. I was looking for my first car and my borther and I found it along with some other mopars going up for a personal property auction. My brother said I couldn't afford that car so we left before the auction started. I think it went for around 6K from what I wast told. Makes me cry now. I didn't have that kind of cash at 15 anyway.

A factory 4 speed 70 Cuda that is fixable should be a no brainer at 10 grand. See if it still has the option tag on the drivers side inner fender. If you get us that we can tell you what it is. I watched a seller at auction yesterday turn down 700K for his 71 Hemi Cuda. I have a offer on my old 70 Hemi Cuda that a friend has and he won't take the 300K offer.

I am 5 hours away from the car. I am getting the tag info. off of the car tommorow. I remember seeing the tag inside the engine bay you are talking about Charley. I am thinking of leaving out tues. morning and heading up there to get all the info off the engine. I know the car does not have the shaker style hood, it is the hood with the 2 louvers. Which means it is probabaly not a Hemi.

In 70 there were "Cudas" and "Barracudas" Any "Cuda" is good....does not need to be a Hemi....Of coarse they feel and drive like crap but they look cool. :D

Well found out a little more info. on the car. It was built in the 9 month of 1969-thats what he got off the door. I know the car is not a 69, because the body styles are not even close in style. I am 99.9% sure the car is a 70. The car is believed not to be a "Cuda" but a "Barracuda" as it says this on the rear tail panel. I have the Vin, but my grampa didn't get the right numbers off of the trim tag under the hood. I will just have to wait till I make another trip up there to get pictures, and get the info. off the trim tag.

I saw the barrett Jackson auction last nite and a 71 383 4 speed convert sold for $130,000. It was yellow w/ the black billboard.

Classic..... anyway I think with the way these are going right now it is a money maker anyway you slice it. I have my eye on a black 70-71 Cuda in my area too, but the guy has reportedly chased people off of his property in the past. I will get up the nerve one of these days to stop in and hopefully get a snapshot or two before he kills me. :unibrow:

thats the truth.... my dad was a big time mopar guy, thats how i know the guy with the website above...anyway... my dad had lots of rare mopars, 68 #'s matching hemi roadrunner 28,000 miles, 69 hemi superbee sedan(1 of 32) 7-8 R/T challengers, 440/6-pak 70 superbee.... yeah he finally got rid of the last couple cars around 89-90...right before the prices skyrocketed. he got into chevy's for a while, 409 impala bubletop, 69 ss/rs 396, and what was "supposed" to be my 1st car... 69 rs Z/28, #'s motor under the bench...another DZ302 x-ram in it, M22, jl8.........yeah it got sold to buy a house about 6 months before i started driving. :(

No updates on the car. I have been swamped lately but I hope to go up there before long. I hope to get up there and gets some detailed pics and get all the info off of the car. With work and school its hard for me to get away! I should no something here before long. I would call the guy who owns it, but he doesn't have a phone!
