Most of us have heard it or of it, what is the funniest auto part or service you have ever heard of?

Blinker Fluid
muffler bearing
kanuter valve

in the air force I heard:

50ft of flight line
the Keys to the airplane
bucket of prop wash

As a car audio installer, we would have the new guy call our other store to get back our 6x9 hole saw, but only if we gave back our wire stretcher.

Lets hear them?

Try calling and asking for a right rear door handle for a 90 crx :D or water pump for a 62 VW bug  Those are fun pranks.

I'm not pulling any pranks, but the guys at AutoZone look at me like I am when I ask to use their OBD engine diagnostics on a '69 Chevelle.

this reminds me that summer is almost here and it is time to drain the antifreeze and replace it with coolant. also don't forget to take the winter air out of your tires and put summer air in!!!!!!!

Not auto related but I thought it was funny.

It was on a TV show years ago.

Some people were at a baseball field doing work for a major league team. They were given to a coach. They were to do work for this coach. One of the coaches told a young lady to go see another other coach and ask him for the key to the "batter's box." They had her going from coach to coach looking for the key for a while before one of her peers let her in on the joke.

I get that too, pretty funny especially when you hook it up. They probably think you (or I) am smoking crack or something until you open the hood.

One of the guys at work here used to send new mechanics over to the pilot's quarters to ask for a new stick actuator...

My favorite has to be a prank an old timer mechanic pulled on a salesman when I was 18/19 working at a Dodge dealer. I think it was on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. You filled the rear washer fluid near the rear tail light. He asked the salesman to watch the tail light and let him know when it was full. After a minute he finally figured it out and told him to go #@#@ himself. We all laughed our asses off.

When I worked in a parts store I would call my guys and ask for either disc brake pads for a 1983 Vette or an air filter for a 1953 Chevy.

Todays Tip:

Don't EVER send your wife to Home Depot for "black caulk, the biggest one they have".

Apparently, my wife doesn't have the same sense of humor as I do.

In the Army and we'd send the new guy over to the motorpool for some infrared tape. Was in Autozone and a local ricer asked for 1" I.D. fuel line for his Honda.

Ok, just tonight my wife Cassie asks me about some white pipes that happened to be in the backdrop of one of our kids pictures---she asked the following;

"Hey Hon, aren't those the PCP pipes we own? The kids really wanted to play with those" I told her, no, trust me, they will want to play with the PCP pipes when they get in High School most likely---she actually got it when I told her the white pipes were "PVC" ---not auto parts related, but I happened to be reading this thread when she said it.

Send the newbies out to get a bucket of "military bearing grease". And the Navy must think bigger than the Air Force....we'd send guys out for 50 YARDS of flight line.

In a cabinet shop the board stretcher is always a good one. Or while doing counter tops, the laminate stretcher. I had a new guy looking for 45 minutes one day for that one. :D

At Boeing we have a few good fun ones.....

Aluminum putty....we work on an all composite airplane.

The RAT (Ram Air Turbine), which is used to power systems in the event the engines both fail, is a big propeller that springs down under the belly to power a generator and hydraulic pump. We get new guys thinking it's an outboard motor in case of water landings.

When a supplied fastener length is too short for the stack-up we're fastening, sending the new guy to the tool room for a bolt stretcher is always good for a laugh.

I worked at Autozone in school. We had a lady come in one time asking me to look up parts for her Pontiac Gooley.

"Gooley" I asked her...."Are you sure?"

"Yes..."she insited.

Okay..I'm game, so I ask if she is driving it so I can go out in the parking lot and verify I am getting her the right parts.

I get out there an it is....

a 1985 Pontiac 6000 LE

Of which...so read the SIX and the Zeros as a G and Os...which sounded out with the LE - made it a Gooley.

UGH.
