Does anyone know the minimum capacity tank that can be run with an ls7 engine? I know most run the 2 gallon peterson, Question is can you drop down to 1.75 gallon or even 1.5 safely?
Thanks Rich
The LS7 originally had an 8qt dry sump tank, but has been upgraded to 9qts (I believe).
Personally, I would not go less than what the engineers developed.

Thanks Scott, the reason I asked this is because I would like to mount the tank the way Stuart has it in his camaro. Im curious about the capacity of his tank, it looks about the same diameter as the peterson but shorter. It made me wonder if Stuarts tank is less than 8 quarts. Mine is 6" dia x 19.5 " in height, 17.5" would be perfect in that location. Stuart if your out there and have dimensions or capacity info on your tank, Its greatly appreciated.
Not to many options for mounting this thing- Thanks Rich
I also wonder if theres a benifit to mounting it in the fresh air stream?

That tank is between 7.5 and 8 qts. They modified the tank a little and used a modified Petersen dip stick. I would think the cooler the location the better. Also made it real easy to check and the lines can be hidden fairly easy. The finished product blended in nicely.
I wouldn't change the tank capacity much at all. Especially if they now run 9qts. Sure a great motor, hate to blow it up by modifying the tank.
I'm sure they tested the heck out of that very important function.

Thankyou Stuart, appreciate the info. DSE did such a nice job on your car, I was lucky enough to see it while visiting Kyle and Mark one afternoon.
I will shoe horn this 2 gallon Peterson tank in there one way or another.
Thanks again- Rich
