Now that I have started reseaarching my roof replacement I saw some sweet cars with the drip rail removed. Is this as simple as cutting the drip rail off and filling the hole with weld. Or would this require some professinal help.

I feel that I competent enough to start the roof next week and would like to also tackle this at the same time. My drip rails don't look too hot so this might be a cost effective way of customizing/ repairing a section of my car.
Thanks for the help.

I had it done on my camaro, body man just cut them off and welded the seam shut. Just go slow so you don't warp anything.

That's what I was hoping to hear.

I would find a car that has this done and see if it looks good before hand. Some cars would look like crap with this done.

I have talked to a few guys about this. If you are going to do it, only remove about 3"-4" of drip rail then weld up, cut more, weld up. Take your time. If you cut the whole drip rail at once you will have issues with the roof skin wanting to move around, twist etc...
