How to fix these?

peeled away the rust bubbles and................woah! a lttle worse than I had hoped. Ideas?

Remember, rust is like cancer. The only way to stop it from spreading or returning is to cut it out and replace it with new metal. Any other repair method is only a stop-gap and just buys you time before it gets worse.

Absolutely.:thumbsup: I understand it needs to be cut out and replaced. I just wasn't sure what specific products might be available to aid in that process and should I weld or use this new epoxy panel adhesive I keep hearing about. Also, since the hood is a two layer panel, can I pray in some rust inhibitor like POR 15 or is that a waste of time?

Those Firebird hoods almost always rot out at the front edge. The best repair is to cut away the hood skin and blast the rust off of the inner bracing. You can also treat the rust with some of the new Eastwood products, though I'm not sure how long they will keep the rust at bey. I prefer blasting because it will remove all oxidized material. Using panel adhesive is fine if done properly and you will avoid heat warpage.

thanks again for the input. I'm also going to be plugging the holes left from the trim mounting points. I figure I'll make plugs out of sheet metal for the larger ones and just weld closed the smaller ones. What gage sheet metal will match? Also, I'd like to try using the adhesive on the plugs by attaching a backing plate to the plugs. Does you see a prob w/that technique?
