Been awhile since I posted so I thought I'd throw in a few picks. Things are coming along, but slow. out of my comferate Zone a little. Special thanks to ,Steve ( HRBS) ,Frank and Mike Redpath for the late night discussion.

Brake lines, exhause to the mufflers, trans cooler and I'm starting on the AC and hydroboost this week end.

Finally made a decision on wheels and Steve ( HRBS ) hooked me up with a nice set of BOZE, and yes I'm staying with the red Calapers for now.
Got some more great stuff from frank as always, Vintage air
Mike has been doing alot with me lately but I think it's top secret for now.

so far I only have the condencer and dryer in, but I did figure out the lines the come with the kit are pretty much useless to me. I'll have to make custom lines. The hard line are made for a factory replacement only. But as alway, somebody on here will help me figure it out for me

Mark had Jennifer and I over last night for dinner and to check the car out. Dinner was great, thanks buddy and tell Shannon thanks again for us!

We loved the Camaro! Very clean and tastfully done! I love the colors and parts choices! You nailed the stance too! It is very obvious you are taking your time and doing things right during both the early stages and final assembly. Give your self a big pat on the back my friend...you are doing a great job on the build!

Thanks again for having us over and for the ride back to the hotel!!

Just thought I would show some of the latest photo's. Took it out yesterday for a spin, Going down the road on an egg crate is a little scary. But every thing works great. Some Good News. Tracey ( Recovery Room ) will be taking care of the interior sometime after the first of the year. If everything goes according to plan. The first show should be Columbus.

The best thing about Tracey is he's really stay's in touch with me and guides me in the right direction. After working on this car for 5 years it's real easy to just go in the house and watch TV. But I keep going on.

I have a buddy that spent 10 years building his 56 Belair... and let me tell you -- watching him drive that car now - it was worth every minute of the effort. He did it all in a two car garage... including the mile deep black paint. SO turn off that TV and stay out there!!

Well I know I'm a little behind in the updates but I find myself real busy over the last couple of months. I need to thank Bill Amsley for lending me his mold for the convertible top cover. turned out pretty good for the first time I did it. There should be lots of updates this week so stay tuned. Due to weather the interior has been delayed a little to Tracy has been walking me though some things I could do in the mean time. We got the Marquez Dash but Tracy will be putting his special touch to it.

Lets start with the weather that has held everything up.

Agreed. I think you chose a great color scheme for the type of car you have in mind. I Can't wait to see what you and Tracy have in store for the interior.
BTW, how did you mount the gauges behind the Marquez piece? Looks like a fair amount of thought had to go into it, they look like the same ones I've got which have a curved face.

Matt

bigtyme1
02-18-2010, 04:31 PM
Matt, they are the same gauges you have. all I had to do is grind away about a 1/8 in off the back piece of the gauge cluster. I was able mount them from behind and still use the curved glass and Marquez rings on the out side. Marquez did a great job on the cluster and I really wanted to use there rings. I also polished the rings. The center gauge I had to make up myself using some parts from Classic instruments and the gauge from mastershift.

I got my Fesler back up lights this week, and they turned out great. as far as I know Fesler is the first to put these out so far and I have been asking for a few years now. I offered to work with Amy and Chris on the fitting because they did not have a real RS in the area and I really want a set for Envy. My buddy Scott Spicer had a real RS in his shop so we used it for fitmit. We got them to a point where they are a direct bolt on. took about 15 minutes to install. Another great product from Fesler. Thanks tracey, I tried as hard as possible to make a perfect car. I still don't think it holds up to a lot of guys out there but I did it as a challenge to myself. Looking back I would have done more and made a few changes. But it's now time to drive it. I'm sure once You get done with it, it will be over the top.

Yes, the wheel is Isotta, I like the feel but it's a little to small to see all the gauges as your driving it, but will get used to it. Or maybe I'll change my mind. Emagine that!

I may just go with this idea, I like and it's very clean. Saw this car in tacoma goodguys a few years back. I'm also thinking about the anvil filler panel for the core support. May radiator is ruff looking so either I polish it or paint the top to match.
http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad251/bigtyme1/envy/covers.jpg

Love the clean look also. Something to think about, not for everyone, but maybe to consider. I'm doing this to my engine bay. Here's the catch. It's a one piece removable. Will have a close out panel over front just not mocked up yet.

Car will keep standard inner guards. This one piece internal will be bolted in and will be easily removed without damage to anything.

Mark, does your core support have all the factory holes in it, or did you fill them up? For me, the deciding factor when choosing closeout panels was which one covered up the most so that people wouldn't be able to see the myriad holes punched into it.

Looks really good! Be sure to post up progress on the interior as it comes together.

No I never filled the factory holes, my original plan was to get the DSE filler panel but after Mike made the resevors for me I did not want to cover them up. I have a filler panel from undercover I may use for now. I need to see the Anvil piece up close before I spend the money.

The truth is I lost the memory cards that I have been using for the car, I found them with the kids camera crap and now we will start at the beginning, The weather really screwed us in getting the car here when we planned, So we just waited till it was possible, I worked on the cars that made their time slots to keep them moving thru and worked on Marks car in between them and on Saturdays. I had a guy push his car back because they were behind on it so I jumped on the Camaro and started planning with Mark. After alot of discussion we came up with a look and colors that he liked and added some better parts also. (This also gave Mark a chance to dig up some coffee cans in the back yard:rofl: ) I like the direction it headed in because it won't look like a race car or it was built with an Erector set.... The pictures he was sending me of modern cars he liked work really well with this car. I don't think there is room for anymore components, Bad ass stereo,I phone,USB,storage areas, L E D
lighting for soft lighting, Euro beechwood accents,Polished and brushed trim accents. He found some air vents that are really cool looking. It has been fun talking with him and going back and forth with ideas. I will put up some pictures from the beginning when we ripped it apart and go from there

Heres just a quick example of the trunk. Tracy will show some more details on his interior post, I build the amp rack and a filler panel prior to shipping the car out but he was able to put in some vents and hidden fans to cool the amps. Tracey also took my filler panel and made it more 3 D to show off the dept. Extreme lighting was used to comunicate with other planets as well. More to come. Tracey Made most of the panels out of Aluminum to keep down the wieght and keep the curves that flow with the rest of the interior.

As this builds finally comes to an end I just wanted to take a little time to tell my story and show some appreciation for allot of fellow members that have helped all of us out. Since the start of this build during the past seven years I have had twins, built a new garage, remolded the house and even brushed with death recently. I have met hundreds of new friends and have acquired some of the best possible help from the professionals in the business. I been welcomed into their houses and invited them to mine. Not only have I gotten pretty much 100% of my parts from Lateral G and Pro-Touring Members but I have had some very late night conversations 7 days a week on Building techniques, best parts to fit my build and where to get the best steak when I’m traveling around the country. I built this car with no sponsors but I still wanted to show off all the help that was given to me. Ben and I came up with a way to show off the car and thank most of the people that helped me out. None of these sponsors were charged a dime to be on this shirt. It’s my gift to them, you may also notice there are some sponsors that I did not use their parts, but their friendship has become greater than the build.
We are approaching the end of the build and it will soon hit the public completed. Please enjoy the shirts and show off are fellow Friends and Sponsors. It can only help them as they have helped all of us. I’ll be the first to admit, I’d be lost without them.

I know this is a big bucket list item for you. I know you kinda had your heart set on it. But you ain't missin nothing. To be honest I found my first SEMA experience quite disappointing. I had no aspirations or fantasys of any big awards or anything, I was not disappointed that way. But had a true "that was it" feeling about the middle of the second day. Now the fact that I am in the business there were some benefits that came with 5 years in a row of sometimes 3 cars there. But I tell people all the time, if you ARE NOT in the business, it is about the worst show you could take your car to.

It is all about ego if your not directly in the business and there is plenty of other opportunities to show it to the world (like pictures here would be a good start, LOL).

I am not taking anything this year and I could not be more excited. Larry got a call from someone wanting MotiV8tr (would be 3 years in a row) and I talked him out of it. I am just thrilled to have no responsibilities this year. Those that have shown there will understand.

Fly out and have a good time, and bring pictures.

Chad, everything is done by the paddles. It's called a master shift that is located in the trunk of the car That paddle tell the computer in the trunk to mechanicaly move a cable that is connected to the trans. It works well but I still need to dial it in. Going from R to D can be tricky and from 1 to 2. once I'm in second it works great. Will get it dialed in before spring.

Last week I thought I'd try out my wifes new Camera. Wanted to get some good shots before the snow hits. Monday it goes to the dino for some tune work. Then will start perfecting some stuff over the winter months. Need to finish the engine compartment and a few other things.

It goes under the weld lip around the back of the car and screws on at the sides of the seats. It's really adds a nice touch but it's for sunny days only. I won't fit in the trunk.

How did the dyno tune go?

We started out in the morning around 286 RWHP and ended the day at 322 RWHP. Were having an issue with loosing fuel pressure at WOT. we started out at 58LBS and shut down at 50. the motor is running to lean at WOT. concensis is the hose inside the tank is colapsing. I'll change it out next week and go at it again.

HRBS

Mark... those are good baseline numbers buddy. Considering 20% driveline loss you are making around 400hp at the flywheel which are close to LS6 numbers. All that while running lean. Dial it in.... and you should find another 30-40 rwhp.

For those old timers that know Mark, he texted me an said he sold his car at Mecum over the weekend and was the #9 top sale based upon Mecum's results. Not bad for a build that's been finished 8 years. I also updated his for sale thread, but figured more people would see this first.
