I am considering doing a flat black paint job on my car, maybe flat metallic from Kustom Flats. If I did that I would have powder coated wheels and bumbers. Anybody out there doing something similar. I like the look, it is cheaper to paint but I am worried it might be a short lived fad. Ofcourse if I like it that is all that should matter. Pleas post your opinions or picks of anything with flat paint. I have a 69 chevelle by the way. Thanks

the pro way of doing it is to do a bc/cc with eggshell clear as the last coat. and that way if it goes out of fashion you could sand and buff it to a high luster finish

The F-Bomb camaro project in Hot Rod magazine did an article all about it. It may seem like it is easier and that it's going to save you money but in the end Hot Rod said it is actually much harder to do.

I considered doing it just for the fact that my car has had the sheetmetal replaced and Im doing the body work myself. Flat paint would allow me to give the car a somewhat cool vibe and still be able to go back and fix any missed areas of bodywork later when Im ready for the shiny stuff.
I think it looks cool but the flat black is definately worn out. I was thinking flat charcoal grey and black powdercoated wheels.
