Once my car sells, I am going to buy this. Anyone think it is a good deal or not? We are not really set on the price but it will be close to this number. $2500 and comes with a spare transmission, original style seats and a few other oddball or new parts.. Tell me what you guys think, he said it was a WS6 and he doesn't know of the Recaro seats are original or not but he said they bolted into the stock holes. I know some cars came with them. I forgot to check the body tag so I don't know if it is an S/E or not.

If there's not too much hidden body woes, that looks like a good deal.

Looks pretty solid for the price. Also looks to have been repainted however, so I would definitely check very carefully for rot.
What plans do you have for it?

I work at a body shop so repaint will come first as it will be cheap.. Then a 455 will be swapped in since my grandpa has a few laying around.
Main goal once I get it is to rebuild the carb, he said that is all it needs to be road worthy. Then I will sell the Camaro and have like $2000 to play with. Then I will redo the interior. All the panels are nice except for one crack in the dash that he showed me, didn't even notice it. You can't see the crack from inside the car. So all it needs is a headliner and seat covers, already has new carpet. So basically the car will be done after that. If I can manage to still hang onto $1000 from selling the camaro, maybe an LS1 swap?
And yeah, he repainted it himself. Next time I look at it I am going to ask for pictures from when he got it. He already redid the trunk also, and he said it had one hole that he patched.

How is it mechanically? Does the PW's work? Top leak? I would go threw the whole car and see what works, doesn't, and what is missing.
But I will say this...it seams to be a good buy. Just get to know the car the best you can and be honest with what it will take to make it reliable and safe before you buy it...

Yeah everything works and no leaks.. The turbo gauges in the hood didn't work but they were just disconnected or something. He started up the car and it ran fine but he said I needed to rebuild the carb to make sure there wasn't any gunk in there and to help it run smoother. He also said the A/C would work if I added freon. He showed me there was pressure in the lines.
He was a nice guy and didn't act like he was hiding anything on the car. He just said he was burnt out on restoring cars plus he is running out of room and bought this car to help his friend out. He has a perfectly restored 79 SE numbers matching with a 4 speed in the garage so I can see why he would be tired of it. Took a few pics of the car if someone wants them.

Looks like a good deal if there isn't any rust in it. I have looked at second gen Fbody's for the last year and usually for a car that price they are pretty rusty or in various states of disrepair or completeness.

I have looked at second gen Fbody's for the last year and usually for a car that price they are pretty rusty or in various states of disrepair or completeness. Around here, $2500 is the average for a nice complete rust free 2nd gen. I found a pretty much rust free 78 Y88 gold car for $1200. Has engine but it isn't in the car. I would get that but I don't want to go through this again like I did with my car. Have the link if you want. It has been for sale for like 8 months now. Stuff here ain't selling.

I take it he has the title and it's in his name?
What camaro are you selling? Didn't know you had one.

Thanks for the offer on the link to the other car, I am always on the prowl for the right deal. I am just now going to have a place to really work on a car. I think I will likely buy an aftermarket subframe and build it up first while I am looking for the right car. I am really looking for an early second gen firebird. I like the nose up to around 77 but I like the quarters of the 70-74.

Yeah, he has the title..
I have a 95 Camaro I use as my daily car. Picked it up from the lady across the street for $1000. Had a few other cars before this but this is my first "real" car. I am not sure if I could really break down and sell it though.

Trey, to be honest I think you would be crazy to sell the camaro! You got it for a great deal and it is an awesome daily driver. Selling that just to buy and barely get started on the black car doesn't make since. If you have 2k laying around I would buy the black car...but understand that it needs a ton to restore it.
I say keep the camaro, buy the black car, and off all the other project cars you have for funds and build the black car to what ever level you have in mind. That way you have a nice DD and hot rod in the end. That would be a dream come true...especially for a younger guy!

Around $2000 but it will be a while. Has new tires, water pump, battery, stereo, back hatch hydraulics and a few other small things.

Here you go.. Car looks like a steal at this price. I am going to Colorado for spring break and would look at this car but I have no way to get it home. Hell I might drive it back. I wish I lived in Denver, sooooo many nice cars in my price range.

Nice find, that is essentially what I want. Have you been to Colorado before? Great place to visit, but you'll see a lot of rusty cars. Have fun on spring break.

Yeah, I went last year.. Oh my God it was like heaven compared to Houston. The girls were.... White!! :hail:
But yeah, that car is nice, but I am too committed to the 81. Wish I had it in time to drive it up there. But he is in Colorado and is coming back next Sunday, and I am leaving that Saturday :( I think I am going to have to leave some cash under his door mat so he can hold it another week. It is so stupid that we are the only school district that has spring break the last week of March, it threw everything off. Lol maybe I can meet him when I am driving there and he is driving back.

When would you be ready to sell if you are gonna? Please PM me if you are serious
TreySmith

Probably around summer, I will PM you then.
I can't pay for two cars so there is really no point in me keeping it once the T/A gets going, but it is always nice to have two cars. I will keep in touch with you. It is going to suck getting rid of it when the time comes, she has been alot of fun.
It has its issues though, but it will all probably be fixed before I sell it. Like the drivers window works half ass and other little things.
