If you could buy a valance modified with 69 park lights, would you be interested? We have already have a valance ready to be molded, but before I go to the trouble to do it, I am taking a head count of who all would be interested. The valance looks like a 69 valance without bumper openings, but fits a 67-68. If you want to run a front bumper the holes will need cut. Some guys have done, so you know what it looks like. Post up if you might be interested.

assuming the price is reasonable I would want one.

I know several people have fabbed their own here lately, so the interest in a 67-68 lower valance with 69 round running lights is wanted by some.
I know personally I would like custom lower valance that had the round lights and perhaps some smaller/cleaner air openings in case I also decided to go bumperless on the front.
Below are 2 pix I had altered in ms paint for possible cool lower valances, some time ago.
1 has the split openings but not as big as stock, and the other is a open center possibly.

I'm in as long as long as the price is decent. Do you have any pictures of the one you are proposing to offer?

soon, it looks just like a 69 valance but fits the 67-68, I still need to mock it to a car to make sure we have no unforseen issues. I have an idea on price, but I need to get the mold made and make a few parts to make sure the price will hold up.

I think he is saying it would come with round light openings, but no center section cut outs, etc... just a smooth faced lower valance with mounting/openings for 69 round lights. Thats what I understand but could be wrong. They would not have bumper holes perhaps.

Correct, smooth lower valance with no bumper holes. You would have to add those if you want to run a front bumper

Glass, I would much prefer metal but the cost of the stamping die would be cost prohibtive unless we could sell thousands of them. If we use a local source, it will be hand laid, vaccum bagged, autoclave cured piece. We may also send to Anvil and let Matt make them instead. Matt is already going to be making a few other parts we are working on now.

I would like to see it with the '69 lights outward and an opening like Jody did on his TT Camaro...since I have an IC to get air to.

Anthony, I have seriously thought about doing what is pictured. It would solve a RS hood latch issue

Anthony, I would just modify your original valance for 69 lights and go to twin air to air intercoolers. Like what was done on Pete's 1969 Camaro. http://www.stenodperformance.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=40

Actually, I already have an IC and everything fits well....don't have 69 lights though.....
This is a cool idea. I would rather run the stock valance.
I would like to see pics.

The demand would definitely be there. I am currently building a 67 and have looked extensively for one before buying building one. This is what mine will look like when done.

Totally interested! I keep going back and forth now about whether to keep the front bumper or not on my 68. I always thought it made the openings look too big, but this is something that takes the eye away from that. Wasnt the front valance on that blacked out car with the flush window kit, from the guy who was sure he could build a $100k car in a few months? Cant find the thread but Im pretty sure he had 69 running lights on a 68.

Front valance pics I plan to put up next week after I have it bolted on a car. I have to talk to Matt and see just how long it will take for him to have production parts. I also have a local source I may use if they get their autoclave installed in time. I hope to have first parts by first of June

Finally some pics of where we are headed. I am not quite sure I am happy with light placement yet, I will know better once we cut the new center inlet opening. I am waiting to cut it until I mount a RS hood release to know exactly where it needs to go. You may be able to see the outline of my proposed cut. Don't pay attention to the sheetmetal fitment, none of it is aligned, just thrown on to visualize the valance installed.

The size of the opening is still in the air. I don't want it as big as the original. As drawn it is 2 inches, may go bigger, i will see when i start cutting.

Update, we are going to have to move the lights some due to them being located right were the bumper brackets exit. I want to be able to market these to the "bumper runners" :D as well, so we are now sacrificing another GM valance for the greater good.

is this part availablealmost. we are waiting for the fabrication shop to get us our prototype parts back so we can do final fitments. This has taken alot longer than anticipated to make sure we get it right the first time, but will be well worth it when done. I plan to do preorders very soon. We have about a dozen new products of our own in the works right now as well. Very busy in the shop.

12-27-2009, 04:55 PM
I will post pics soon. It is similar to the one that went on Project "Karma" which was version 1.0. Lights got moved inboard slightly so we could run a bumper if desired, and changed the opening.
