I've had my 69 camaro since I turned 16. It's been put on hold a few times but I am completely focused on it now. The most I have done for it to date is: Build a budget 350, that way I can get the car to any shops if necessary. Bought a viper t-56 6 speed conversion kit from keisler. 4 wheel disc brakes from CPP, and recently upgraded to 12" rotors 2" drop spindles and upper and lower control arms, but they are their "economy" control arms. So I doubt they were worth the money, and a set of 17" american racing hopsters. The rest is not much special.
I want in the future to do a full frame swap with C-5 IFS and some sort of trick rear-end. I have the new motor blue-printed but I still have to order the short block. It will be a 671hp 406 small block with 18 degree gm performance parts heads. I have the heads, intake, cam, everything that bolts to the top of the motor. They were race prepped by Bill Hendren for a dirt track car making around the 650hp range on a smaller motor. I'm keeping the t-56 but basically want to replace every other piece of the car.:willy:

What sort of frames should I be looking for? I want to be able to handle better than a new z06 or comparable to it. The rest of the build can go from there.:woot:

I would say that it is imposible to make a -69 camaro handle like a Z06, but you can make it handle well. Imposible, because the camaro weights a ton more and it´s a "big" car compared to Vette and it´s quite tall, at least it´s centerline of weight is lot higher... but I think you can make it a ton more fun to have and drive than some pretty new vette.

All that you listed sounds like you will have a great g-machine, but I´m not sure what would be the best way to do the frame. Go for the tube frame if you have that money thing goin on there, but othervise I woould mock up the orginal one. (I do like more the sleeper look in - side - out) At least that tube frame will give you that independent rearsuspension, if you want to build a machine that will handel well. Also you`ll need coilovers on every corner. I would also think about the weight ration on thing -> motormounts 1 or 2 to backwards...

I think with enough fiberglass my car would be not TOO far off of the weight of a z06, it's only about 600lbs I would have to shave to be equal. bumpers, fenders, hood, trunk would all add up to a about 200-300lbs that's half way there. As for the chassis I did a bit more research and I want to go with the art morrison max G chassis. anybody have any experience with that? or does anyone have another chassis they would suggest that I could research?
