Guys , i just want to ask , im runnining 17 x 9.5 with 5.5 backspace now. I will be purchacing new rims asap. I want to go with 18 x 10 , Question is ...if i keep same backspace do i gain that half inch 'outwards' and inside stays the same? I seem to have plenty of room toward the outer edge.

What rims are you getting? If they can set the backspace where you want it, you need a 5.75 Backspace

Hi Frank , your everywhere mate ! thanx for all your input by the way.
So with the backspace 'as per my pic' i do want to move my rim and tire outward a bit. So does changing the backspace to 5.75 centre it more with the up in size? Inside of rim and tire is tight but as you can see i got room to move outwards. Am i gaining anything really?
Still undecided on something like Ryans (Rybar) red 69 (rim size) or going the dse mini tub and changing things up.

Well, it is always better to have room to shim the wheel out. The extra 1/2" if room will add 3/8" to the overall section width of the tire.

The rim choice depends on the mini tub or not. Ive got the old tried an true tt2s in 17s and was thinkinking 18s in same ? but a 10 instead of 9.5 rear.
or Intro KWC forged 3 piece or the rushforths.
All very different and hard to pick. Its all driving me nuts really :willy:
Im really taken with Ryan Barechellos red 69 (rybar) the stance and rims with no tubs. I could spend more bux on other stuff then?

I run an 18x10 rear w/5.625" b/s but the 5.75" b/s Frank recommended will work as well,if not better.I'd say I still have about 5/8" clearance on the drivers side and almost 1" on the pass side.No rubbing issues inside or out.
Don't have many taken from behind, this is what I have on file:

Thanks for the compliments, if I were on the fence like you I would do the mini-tub. It's just looks so much better with a 335 and 12" rim out back.
But it all depends on time and budget. My body work was done before DSE came out with mini-tubs.
John's car looks amazing with the 10's out back. Mine are 5.75" BS like frank recommended.
Just make sure your car doesn't sit too low, and your rear suspension isn't too soft. Plus you will have to roll the lips on the 1/4's for sure. It's a very tight fit but can be done:

I dig those RS taillights so much Ryan,I thought about going that route just because I like the way they look even though mine's not a Rally Sport.
I may eventually though, first I started with the Marquez's traditional ones, now the modern versions, next I may have to go RS.

Thank you both Ryan & John for taking time out to help out an Aussie !
And yes you too Frank ! Its just coming back to mini tub or not too mini tub?
Im thinking the diff would be best narrowed but to buy one b4 the tubbing is done is risky id say without measureing unless there is a generic size most are using. Remembering im only in states for 3 weeks, so time is tight with custom orders.
Cheers, Wade

OK, so if you decide to go mini tub, I can have a narrowed rear waiting, Wheels ready (with correct backspace), tubs, Suspension, everything you need. We do it all the time, so what is stressfull and scary (unknown) for you is everyday stuff for us. Let us sweat of over it
