Hello all,
I own a 1968 Camaro 327 (soon to either 383 or ls/with 6 speed) I was wondering about my suspension... I have global west front and rear suspension... Tubular upper and lower, QA1 coil overs, high hp left springs with QA1 rear shocks...oh and front and rear sway bars...only the leaf springs and rear shocks are installed..I will install everything else after I move to Virginia from Louisiana...I purchased all of this after a deployment to Iraq years ago and have never been able to install all of it. (damn Marine Corps lol) now that I am out I am wondering would the stock front subframe be good enough? maybe with a little work to it (rewelding the seams)?...I plan one buying a rack and pinion steering for the car and am wondering if it really is worth it to buy an aftermarket subframe.....this is going to be a street car that I "play" with on the weekends and drive to work on perfect days...this car is a toy ..not a daily driver....maybe even some track time when i get the nerve....any and all help is appreciated.....thanks guys

The stock sub is fine, IF you do something to create more negative camber gain - either the Guldstrand mod (which lowers the UCA mounting point) or ATS tall spindles or tall ball joints which (relatively speaking) have the same effect as lowering the UCA mounting point.

I'd pass on the rack and go instead for a good box - depending on budget either a 3rd gen IROC box or one of the Lee or DSE boxes.

And I wouldn't install the rear sway bar until you decide you need it.

Oh, and thank you for your service.

I have pretty much the same setup you do for the most part. Like Mkelcy suggested the ATS spindles and steering box are great improvements. I have both on my 67 and have been very happy with the performance they've added to the car. I think these mods would serve you well for the type of driving you plan on.

Post up some pictures of the car for us.

if the stock sub is not up to par, the speed tech sub will accept all the suspension parts you currently have ( except the coils and shocks, but i am sure some one here needs a set) the g mod is built in and it uses the rack.

there's another option.
