Say you were looking at building a low buck project where function wins over form.

Can be rough around the edges but handles like it is on rails.

Which front suspension is a "better" place to start from.

Which rear suspension is "better".

Would a hybrid be a logical choice, 2nd front with a 3rd gene rear or visa versa?

Keep in mind the cost to put each on an equal playing field as well as how hard (Labor) it is to get there.

Assume both cars cost the same to start and have similar drivetrains so the only "difference" are thier suspensions.

Also understanding that common parts will being replaced on both anyway, rims, tires, strut/shock, springs etc.

if you want to go fast for cheap using an Fbody, get a thirdgen or fourth gen. Better from the start, lighter weight of vehicle, plenty of suspension parts options that keep the factory style setup. better brakes as well.

The 3rd gen really blows the 2nd gen out of the water on everything but power. The 3rd and 4th gen are kinda the same car under it besides small changes.2nd gen uses a remove able sub frame just like the 1st gen and leaf springs in the back.3rd gen has a k member has a strut system but the springs are not with them. The rear is a basic 3 link 2 lowers and a torque arm to keep it all center.Even a 3rd gen is cheaper to buy right now.
