Hi Guys,

I'd make a super bowl reference here but it may cut the number of people willing to respond in half! Anyway, I am planning a trip to Laguna Seca for a Skip Barber Racing school event sometime in late March depending on work. I want to get some basics down before thinking about taking the Camaro to a track. Is there anything going on that time of year at Laguna or Sears Point? Any historic races or car events worth going to? I would love to schedule it at a good time to get in as much as possible, but would also like to take a vacation in early Spring and not wait until Summer.

Thanks!
Tim

It's not exactly the same neighborhood but there's a GoodGuys show in Pleasanton which is South of there on March 28th and 29th that is a good time and worth the drive. Lots of vendors, cool cars and a great swap meet and car for sale section.

Tim, good to see that you're still alive! Haven't seen you post in quite a while.

There's a few members that go to this show. But to correct Jay, it's actually about an hour and a half or so north of Monterey.

Thanks guys. I think we are renting a car and I am willing to drive north, which is why I put Sears Point in the loop.

Hanging in there! I can see these forums at work and lurk a lot, but can't post! But don't think I haven't been on here keeping tabs on all the happenings.

If you are at Laguna on a Thursday, make sure you go to The Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley. They have a cruise night and Great mexican food.

The monterey festival of speed is May 15-17, the Koni Challenge is supposed to have the new Camaro racing there.

March 28-29 goodguys at Pleasanton Ca

Lots to do around Monterey area, Aquarium on Cannery Row, shopping in Carmel, thursday night hot rods at Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley, drive down the coast highway 1 to Big Sur park.

Drive north up highway 1 to San Francisco, over the Golden Gate bridge, go up to Infineon and see Napa, down to Goodguys in Pleasanton, quite a trip in itself. No vintage races this time of year but perhaps a club event. HMSA, Green Flag driving, Speed Ventures, all have track days at Laguna planned.

Whoops! Derr.... I retained when he said Infineon and forgot that he was going to mainly be in Monterey.

Thanks guys! Looks like we are going the week of March 16th or April 1st. I am letting my friend make the final decision on which racing school we do and then planning around that.

I appreciate all the help!

Mary took the Skip Barber school at Laguna Seca and was very pleased with it. The instruction was top notch.

Great to hear! We signed up for the April 1 racing school. Hopefully they don't play any April Fools jokes on us!
