well sort of a new guy.my name is Mike,I know XcYz and caper150.I am by no meens a master mechanic but I def know enough to get me through some tough projects at times, learn as you go.I have put together 3 3rd gen Firebirds 2 of which I still own.my 86 Trans Am has a 383 and is my baby.Capor150 helped me on the car and did the paint job on it for me since I having no painting experiance.my other Firebird (1988) is going to get stripped down this spring and gone through.after the economy gets better and my job situation doesn't look so scary I am planning on buying a truck or suburban with a good running 454 setup.that motor trans etc will all go into my 88 Firebird which currently has a 4 cylinder in it,so a 454 will be a major change to say the least.

Hey Mike, glad to see you post up, I told you the other night, dare to be different and leave the 4cy and add a turbo:unibrow: Guys yes I did paint his firebird for him but he's too modest he did most of the work I just sprayed it,we worked out a deal I'd paint his car and he'd help my build the shop, so he got this:

I've had a few 3rd Gen's myself...still want to do another one properly someday.

Just a thought, but if you're going through the trouble of fitting a big block into it, have you considered a real 455 Poncho? It would be considerably more unique and interesting. The Poncho weighs less than the BBC. Of course, then there is the whole price thing.....either way, best of luck!
