I just picked up a project car and its runs perfect looks great to the uneducated eye. but its got some bondo on just about evey piece of metal there is. so my question is If im building a pro touring when do you justify to spend thousands on body work and new panels or but a kit camaro for around 12 grand? by the way its a 68 ss (i think... apparently theres no way to tell?) heres the you tube link to the car

Because you still need stuff like window regulators, hardware, etc, and it still needs to be prepped and painted. And I think you can tell a 68 because they put side markers in them.

We are finisheing a Dynacorn body right now and as Jst8 mentioned there is a aweful lot of little things you have to buy if you do not have a donor car. There are a few things you cannot buy. For us to thrash a original body, it will have to be really far gone. Replacing out sheetmetal and floors is common practic for us. Even cowl tops. When you get into needing full rockers, windows frames, frame rails, etc, may be when it is time to consider a new body.

I think he means that there is no way to tell its a real SS, not that its a 68.:_paranoid

Just because there's bondo, doesn't necessarily mean that the panels are bad. You really need to get the car to metal before you can make that call. It also depends on how far you want to go with it. What condition are the floor pan and trunk pan?

trunk and floor are almost perfect very little rust. but one part of the trunk does confuse me a little when i lift up the carpet there seems to be like a piece of sheet metal that goes across the trunk but drops off before you get to the quarter panel and wheel tub im not sure if this is normal or not.

Oh yeah? I always thought the "SS" was a dead giveaway it was a true SS.:D
