Since it seems impossible to find headers what i am looking for . I try to build them myself.

- Where can i get stainless flanges wich match for LS7 exhaust ports ?

Stainless works lists 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" models only. I want 1 7/8" primarys.

- I try make primary lenght close to kooks long tubes. Is there any gains to

use merge collectors with long tube desing ? See link :

One more. 1 7/8" is outside diameter whan talking about primary tubes?

SPD exhaust has everything you need.

To determine header sizing you may want to post horsepower level and rpm range to help.

I am going to use stock GM crate LS7. Engine is 7.0L and GM claims
505 hp and 470 lb.-ft I believe this is stock curve:

I believe the ATS step headers for the LS7 were known for making the most power. If memory serves me, they step to 2" not to long after the 1.875 tubing.

I have no plans to make this any harder than it is. I am looking for as easy as possible way. Since Kooks are known at they make resonable power i plan to make same lenght primarys. I am mostly intrested is there any gain to go with merge collectors? SPD has some nice ones with right flanges.

A buddy of mine has a 2001 zo6, but a built LS2 with a vortech supercharger making over 800hp to the rear wheels and uses a set of 1 7/8 from these guys http://www.americanracingheaders.com/homepage.htm

I have a set of steel ATS Step headers on the way to me I will be test fitting on a AME and a DSE frame. I think they may be the last set ever made.

In steel they are a lot cheaper then stainless, and will look killer coated.

Rodger is correct, nothing will make the power like a step header.

Yeah but the first time you build headers with their U bends you will be glad. Ask anybody who has built a set and is concerned with quality. Not all mandrel benders are created the same. SPD is cheaper then Burns or Wolfe aircraft.

CNC flanges over water or flame cut flanges are pretty nice. If you ever TIG weld a set of SPD flanges you will think your Tig welding just got 10 times better, because the materials are that good.

Since stepped ones are too much science for me. I just try to make the long tubes with SPD flanges and merge collectors if theres any idea for those.

One of my friends here has good bender wich can make mandrel bends easily. Straight pipe isnt that much in stainless here.

I would go in a minute for lemons but they are too much for me in stainless. Dan Lemons gave me good offer, but for now.Its just too much.

The remaining question is ; Do i spent the extra money on merge collectors or not ? :cheers:

Oh I agree 100%, do it in the shop, just many have no clue what materials can cost. If I remember the materials for motiV8trs headers approched $1800.
