Hey guys, my wife is a CPA/CFP and is thinking about starting a business helping people organize their finances - setting up a financial filing system, setting them up on Quicken, creating budgets and saving plans, debt reduction, advising on employer benefits (if still employed!), college savings plans, etc. I've seen great project name suggestions on this board, so I figure what the heck, maybe you guys would have some great business name ideas. Any thoughts? Two names we came up with were "SimpleSolutions" and "Keeping Tabs", but we're not sold on those. Also, are there any other services you think would be useful? Thanks for any input!

That's a tough one. Not too wild about Keeping Tabs, though.

Practical Financial Solutions. I'm trying to think of something that tells individuals that it's aimed at them though, not businesses.

Best to come up with a list of at least ten names and then trim it down to three. Then pick a winner. Take your time as good names usually need to sink in over the course of a week.

EVERY small business is looking to get more organized now that easy money has dried up. So I think your timing is perfect. And people are looking for outsourced services rather than adding on full time bookkeepers to get organized. Put your two ideas on that list, but your gut instinct is right. Those names are somewhat generic. But put them on the list because you might modify them or integrate them with other concepts.

Direct:
-Accounting2U
-On Site Accounting
-On the Go Accounting

Catchy:
-Merry Money
-Travelling Tax Lady
-Accounting For All
-Financial Express

Conservative:
-Elemental Accounting
-Method Accounting

Synonyms for Organized (I picked organized because the world is full of aptly named accounting firms. Focusing on the term "organized" will help to differentiate your business and take advantage of the current economic MESS.) That and on-site are, in my opinion, the two most important marketing tools for your concept.

organized (adj)

Synonyms: prearranged, prepared, planned, ordered, systematized, controlled, structured, well thought-out, methodical, logical, orderly, reasonable, sensible, systematic, regular, arranged, systematized
Synonyms: catalogued, classified, coordinated, correlated, formed, formulated, grouped, methodized, standardized, straightened out, tabulated

I think this is a great name, you need to make sure that the names does not limit you to one thing, but the name has to tell people what the heck you do, or at least give them an idea. I would try to stay away from hard to spell or uncommen word so that way it is easer to find in the phone book, www, or 411.

"69 Camaro"

It's so catchy.

I personally like the following "Debits = Credits" --but no one will get it. Once you decide on a name, come back here with a t-shirt design so we can make recomendations on that as well--

I got the debit/credit thing. I went to school for business. And the "It's accrual world" HAHA!! Nice. I had a rough time looking for a name. I can see how it fits but a lot of people don't get it. All that to say, chose wisely. A lot is in a name.
