camaro doors? re skin or not

need some advice on doors on my car, both doors on m car have a lot of mud in them, not rusty except for a small dime spot on one door. other door was hit long ago and has a crease in it. my body guy wants to fix both doors insted of skining them due to the fact there orginial. theres a 1/8 inch coat on half the doors now. car has new quarters, taillight panel, and ds fender. all goodmark. my thinking is skin them what do you think?

im thinking the same thing the less mud the better. I know i cant escape it all togeather so might as well limit it.

I would fix the doors, most door skins are ill fitting and you'll have more mud in them and 3x's the time in getting your gaps correct!!!!

Actually, we fixed the doors on my 1967 Camaro instead of reskinning them. My bodyman has 56 years experience in fixing these cars, and he doesn't recommend puttting new skins on. Although, my sheetmetal is NOS. My doors were dipped, so it was bare metal during the repair. The bad section metal was cut out and then a new piece was welded back in. I would skin the doors. I dont care myself for a guy thats been doing this for 56 years. What that says around these parts is "the guy is behind the times" With todays body adhesives that door could be done with little to no filler work. Plus the adhesives make the door stronger and the door would be alot less able to rust back out my way vs the way your guy did it. If the guy cut and welded in a patch that might have been acceptable but guess what?? he just opened the door up and now it has filler work AND it has to be protected from the backside as well. Any moisture that gets into the door shell now will put your door at risk for rust. Jus tan opinion and I have alot of them. And yes I have been restoring cars since 1986 for what thats worth.

I guess a pic of the doors would help, but in my coarse of life these aftermarket door skins are ****, and Ive bought them from everone, for one there not straight, too long, too short, just plain junk if the doors are fairly decent I would fix them. But if there's alot of rust or a big crease yes your better off skining them just make sure you fit them after you skin them before you do any body work.
