Ok, my old boot will not fit. I can cut it and have it re stiched, but I was hoping for something custom and different. Here is a picture of the new shifter which is bad ass by the way. Is a leather boot the only way to go with this configuration, or is there something else that will work with this? I would rather not use a leather boot and cover the billet arm.

Yes it is a bad ass piece of work.
I am working on the same thing - trying to have a low boot done that shows off as much of the handle as possible. Something similar to this but that shows even more is what I am looking for. Of course, you are running a console which covers up some of it already I guess.

I got the Lokar trim ring that comes with the shift boot (which I think is identical to the one in this picture) but we are going to have the opening in the boot modified a bit as this shift handle is thicker than most, and as you said, I want to expose more of the shaft.

maz- i really like how yours looks now and dont thing a boot tapered up will look good plus theres already not much of the "shaft" show now. i would suggest maybe a reverse style leather boot... like on some factory 4 speed cars had, some times refered to as "cups" but they were rubber... but with leather i think it would look really cool and still show of the shifter handle alot but not look unfinished.
did i mention how much i loves steves shifter handle!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, a reverse style boot would be perfect for yours. I'd do something like this one on the OneLapCamaro.

Hey guys. The shifter is too far forward for my tastes. Steve and are are talking about a new one for my car due to my console being a little high for their stock curved shifter arm. I have a few ideas for the shifter arm, Kevin at CAR came up with one, and there is a company that custom makes boots, so we will see. Yes there are bad ass shifters.

Flash is from Frisco so no surprise there!:unibrow:
If it's to far forward, how about a bracket to raise and angle it back towards you.

The whole reason I ditched the console idea.

The console really isn't the issue, it is but it's not. I do like the console, but I need the shifter in a certain place for a road racing placement, not that Ill do much of it, but I want it set up that way.

Yeah I hear ya. I only got my shifter moved back about 3.5" by ditching the console. It ain't a bunch but it does make a difference.

You're right on that. So what's the deal, you still selling or what?

It's coming down to the wire.... not sure... of course I haven't had someone offer me a big number yet either. But as I have said I am walking a pretty tight rope these next couple months, but I do have a couple options before selling I hope to put into play...
But I also look at it as I will be able to get back in and pick up an already done car in the next year or so if I do have to sell, and there will be some good deals out there with this sh*tty economy...

Yeah mate I understand. You and I should have a chat about stuff, just to see where you're at. I would hate too see you sell your car. I was in the same boat and was lucky in this crappy economy to get out in decent shape in a few months. I just want to see where your at and maybe help out if I can. I would be cool to go crusing with you when the car is done.

Have it made to go further down on the arm and below console top, sort of like a reverse volcano(best way to describe it). That will solve most of your problem.
