Well I took all my stuff to the powder coater and he said that the solder around my gas tank neck would melt and if I wanted to powder coat the tank then I would have to remove the solder and weld the neck to the tank. Has anyone done this? Or have any info? I really want to have it powder coated but don’t know if its worth it. It’s a stock aftermarket tank.

You could have the neck silver soldered on or brazed. Or use a higher melting point solder. It appears the highest temp your powder coater will use is 390F.

He said that it will bake at 400, and said that last time they hung it from the neck and it fell out. I think that is why it happend, I asked him about drilling a small hole on the extra trim on the side but he did not want to try it. I may just go to a differant place for that peice.
