View Full Version : Jackass and Camaro X
Charley, now that Jackass is getting paint and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, are you going to sell Camaro X?

I was gonna make it just a track car but it is too nice. It was also going to be my backup in case Jackass wasn't ready by Power Tour time but since I now know I will be getting the LS9 I know it should be finished soon. If anyone wants a Stielow built 69 Camaro this is your chance. I'm sure there is plenty of info on the car somewhere on the site. Email me at

I'm sure the price of this car is more than fair. Lets remember that Mark and Charley build and have very purpose built cars that look like a nice restored car with great wheels (very sutle), yet have the ability to handle all types of conditions incredably well. This is the car your getting and it hard to put a price on a car of this statis and not get some sort of negative coments from someone else, on this or any site like this. So unless you are interested and are able to afford a Stielow built car, lets leave Charley alone about the price!!

im not really sure what your talking about or if its dirrected twords me. i know all about the car, and want it. my post was more of "do i want to know the price becouse i want to know what i need to get rid of to add it to my garage". not hating on the car or the price, becouse i don't even know what the price is, or the point of your post.

I've driven several 67-69 Camaro's, and have driven Camaro X on the last two Power Tours. It is the nicest riding/handling combination first gen I've ever driven. Doesn't beat you to death, Marks custom Bilstein shock valving makes a world of difference in my opinion.
Let me put it another way. Usually when driving a new (to you) car it takes a while to get comfortable. This car does not, it is comfortable and forgiving right off the bat. If I had the money it'd be mine, no lie.

Well, since there is no price, then this thread is worthless.
Gee... what ever he sells it for, it's worth it...imagine that

That seems like more than a fair price from what I've seen of the car.
Someone will be very lucky to have it!
I can't wait to see "JackAss" completed.

Good luck on the sale of it. I am sure somebody with the means will grab it up. And just in case somebody comes across this thread and does not know the car here is a little more info http://www.lateral-g.net/stielow/
Charley,
How does the car handle on the track? This is an outstanding car...sophisticated and simple.

I noticed theres no AC in the car, and the heater lines are capped off. Can someone elaborate on what accesory drive system Mark used when he built it. I believe its just power steering and an alternator/ stock damper?. I wonder if its a PITA when defrost is needed during big rain. Im gonna build mine with out air as well, but thinking defrost may be essential- Rich
Great looking car Charley!!!!

It has heat and AC. The ac works great. It has the larger under dash unit from Vintage air so you just leave the fan on low speed and it keeps everything cool.

Sorry Charley, I saw the capped off heater lines in the pics and didn't see the AC compressor, my bad. I still like how simple and stock looking the pulley system is. Is it GM stuff?
Thanks Rich

Rich, I don't have A/C in my car, just a small heater/defrost unit from Vintage Air. I too was worried about defrost when driving in the rain, and it's worked out great. We had plenty of rain on Power Tour. I don't want to hijack this thread, so shoot me a PM if you want more info.

Dave....J/K just kidding.:D Seriously though, it's rare for a pro touring car of this caliber to come on the market. It's much easier to buy one than build one huh guys???

Seriously Just Kidding (j/k) figured some fool would have posted that up already backing up his arguments...I'll say, I would post totals but I do not want to add the receipts up until it is done! I probably will come pretty damn close to that.

Seriously, If I was looking to get a Pro-Touring car and I could get the financing....I'd jump on this car in a heartbeat.
It needs nothing. Just turn the key and have at it.

Quick question for someone who might know. Does X run a stock subframe? Also, how long has the car been completed?
Thanks.
Stuart Adams

Stock frame, ATS spindles, DSE control arms, modified shocks, Baer brakes. Jody is that right?

yep, that's pretty much it. Has the big Baer 6S brakes, and his own custom valved Bilstein coilovers, plus 265's up front which are larger than most guys with a stock sub. I believe it was completed just before Woodward Cruise in 2007, so that would be before August of 2007. It's maybe a year and a half old at this point.
