Ben is out of touch without power, phones, and his cell battery died too. His area was hit with a massive ice storm. So he will be out of touch until his power comes back on. He said there are 350,000 people out of power. He wanted everyone to know he will be back in touch as soon as he can.
Thanks
Mike

I know. It's pretty scary over there and up north in New Hampshire.
My fiance's parents live in Holden, MA, which is next to Worcester, where Ben lives, and they all got blasted with ice. Trees & power lines are down and people are without power/heat.
Let's hope they get the power and mess all cleared up quickly!!!

Thanks for posting Mike!
Looks like power is of until mid-week. It's pretty bad here, wait til you guys see the pix I took yesterday from my neighborhood! I spent the entire day removing all the huge limbs from my yard and my neighbors'. I really could have used a chainsaw, my arms are dead from the bow saw! Our road is still completely impassable. Good news is everyone is safe and we don't have flooding....yet.
Sorry for the inconvenience for those of you that have been trying to contact me. Cell works now but don't know when I'll have internet access again.

You don't need no stinkin' power! Break out the pencils, pad and markers! :D
Good luck getting everything going and be safe with the chainsaw.

Yeah, I've been sketching all day.
No need for the chain saw any more, I pretty much got everything cut yesterday by hand and cleared my yard. My neighbors live in NJ most of the time. They're elderly so I'll probably do their yard when I have a chance.
The city is coming through with earth movers and dump trucks followed by National Grid. The big obstacle is the fact that our town has been infested with Chinese longhorn beetles. We're losing 4500 trees within 2 mile radius and they can only be brought to one lot in the county. Calling it tedious is the understatement of the year.

My fiance's parents got their power back on around 5 PM today.
That is good news. I hope all the other people get their power/heat back on soon. This is not the weather to not have any heat. It's getting really cold at night, like in the lower 20's and teens.
Hang in there Ben!!! Stay warm.

Power is back on but still freezing in the house! We were surprisingly one of the first to get hooked back up and online....most will still be waiting for days.
We keep hearing stories of home invasions, robberies and generator thefts around the area too...what low-lifes!
Anyway, here's the pix as promised. I need to take some pix from the surrounding streets that had entire trees that destroyed houses and cars...I've never seen anything like this and hope we never will again. We were very, very lucky.

We where hit with an ice storm just like that one year ago. I was a massive clean up job. There are still tree grinding machines running to this day at some of the bigger drop off areas. The skyline has been changed for generations. Yesterday it was a record high of 77* with 25 mph winds out of the south up until 3:30pm when the wind started to turn around out of the north. It was below freezing by 7pm and 15* when I got up at 5am this morning. We also received sleet and freezing rain around midnight. Lots of stuff closed but no tree damage just the body shops racking up work from the collision damage from icy streets.
Wow, those pics tell the story. I'd rather have a blizzard than an ice storm.

WOW!!!!:wow:
That is amazing. My fiance's parents said the National Guard were there in Holden today helping in the clean up of trees and branches.

Well it melted and I've got your water down here in CT. I was evacuated pre dawn Friday night and waded in almost waist deep freezing water to a big 4 wheel drive fire company rescue vehicle. They waited waay to long to come get those of us that live by the water. I couldn't get to the house for a few days but got back in late last night.
I currently call the house on the left home. If there was a car in my driveway it'd be up to the headrests in water!
